Attend Sakteng Festival
Situated at an altitude of 3000 metres, Sakteng is a beautiful valley located in eastern Bhutan and inhabited by ‘Brokpas’, a semi-nomadic community. This community hosts an annual three-day festival, named Sakteng Tshechu Festival during which everyone comes together to celebrate and worship.
You will also get to see the popular mask dance of Bhutan called ‘Ache Lamoi Cham’ and ‘Yeti Dance’. As per the folklore, the mask dance is to commemorate Guru Rinpoche who wore a mask and performed a unique dance to subdue the demons. It is a colourful and lively festival during which locals gather to party with rounds of Ara, a local wine.

Climb up to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten
The construction of Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten was ordered by Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck, the queen of Bhutan in 2004. As per the locals, the stupa was built to keep away the evil spirits from Bhutan and spread peace worldwide. To reach this stupa you will need to hike through the rice terraces and lush green paddy fields which is a memorable experience. Inside the stupa, you will get to see various spellbinding paintings and sacred texts from the holy scriptures. Additionally, you can admire the 15-foot-tall statue of God Vajrakilaya and the golden statue of Sakyamuni Buddha.

Visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang of Paro
Situated in the Paro Valley, Kyichu Lhakhang is one of the oldest and most sacred temples of Bhutan. Built in the 7th century by Tibetan Emperor, Songtsen Gampo, it is believed that it was built to capture a giant female ogre. Initially, it was a small temple but gradually several Buddhist saints kept on adding to this structure, creating a masterpiece that stands today. Inside the temple, you will get to see stunning wall paintings based on Buddhist legends and an 8-year-old figure of Gautam Buddha.

Visit Rinpung Dzong
Rinpung Dzong locally known as Paro Dzong is a prominent landmark of Bhutan which was built in 1644. See Buddha Dordenma

See Artefacts at the National Museum
Built-in 1649 above Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum was initially a watchtower. Later, in 1968, the watchtower was converted into a National Museum under the reign of Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, the third king of Bhutan. One of the best places to visit in Bhutan in June is this famous National Museum which displays over 3000 artefacts, most of which are donated by the royal family.
The different floors of the museum display different items such as Stone Age tools, bronze statues, collections of relics and Bhutanese dresses. The most fascinating display of the museum is a stone egg of a horse and a dagger which belonged to Dorje Lekpa, a protector of the country.

See Wildlife at Jigme Dorji National Park
Sprawling over a vast area of 4,316 sq. km, Jigme Dorji National Park is the second largest national park in Bhutan. Established in 1974, the national park was built to commemorate the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Walk over Punakha Suspension Bridge
Built by Thangtong Gyalpo, a Buddhist monk, the Punakha Suspension Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the world.
