About Mongar And Lhuntse

As many might see it as, the Mongar and Lhuntse are two of the most preferred places in Bhutan by the travellers.

Highlights: The journey leading you from the Bhumtang to Mongar is definitely one of the most visually appealing in the Himalayas which is arrived after crossing the 3800 meter high Thrumshing La. Mongar Dzong is the newest of the Bhutan’s Dzongs and was built in the 1930s. During the time it was built, it came up to replace the Zongkar Dzong which was then only in its ruins. It is built keeping in view the tradition of Bhutan where no nails or drawings are used. Lhuntse is a rural and an isolated district of Bhutan. Lhuntse’s kurtoe region is the ancestral home of the Royal Family.

Location: Mongar is located in the eastern Bhutan. It lies on top of the hill. Lhuntse on the other hand is located at an elevation of 1460 meters.
