Skandagiri Fort

There is not much left of the fort now but dilapidated walls of this fort built by Tipu Sultan can still be seen today. This is one of the forts in Bangalore which is a paradise for adventure seekers, and ideal for night treks, camping and bird watching.

Makali Durga

The highlight of the destination is the Makalidurga fort which lies atop a granite hillock. While at the top, the hill offers picturesque views of the lake, Shiva temple and one can catch a sight of the train meandering through the hills at the bottom of the hill. Makalidurga night trek is an experience not to be missed and a zest to explore, and love for adventure is its key ingredients.

Devanahalli Fort

Large gopuras and elaborate stonework feature prominently on the walls and the impeccable architecture of Venugopalaswamy temple and Siddalingeshwara temple are among the umpteen temples located inside the premises of the fort.
Marking its place in one of the most striking forts in Bangalore, it is the place located in the outskirts of the city and it is easily accessible from the city by local modes of transport. As Bangalore enjoys a good climate, you can visit the fort at any time of the year.

Huliyur Durga

The few remnant ruins of the fortress lie on the top of kumbi betta along with a temple of the god ‘Varadaraja' also known as Hemagiri Ayyappa and were said to have been built during the reign of the Gowdas. This is a good trek for beginners who want to taste a bit of natural rock climbing and have some adventure as they have no trail all the way up and just a few vertical rock patches.

Bangalore Fort

Islamic art and teak wood interiors generate curiosity among people to know more about the history associated with tipu sultan and the fort. The fort comprises of 500 years old Ganpati shrine, beautiful gardens, paintings and murals on the walls narrating the king's bravery and chivalry and his hatred towards the British, and Tipu Sultan's summer palace.

Channarayana Durga

The fort was built during the rule of the Gowdas and later taken over by the Marathas and the British later on. This is one of the Bangalore forts which is unknown to a lot of people in the country, don’t feel surprised if you find yourself climbing alone and the trek becomes more exciting as there are no signboards to guide the direction up to the hill but you have the option to hire villagers as your guides.

Madhugiri Betta

One can enjoy a breathtaking view of the whole town from the top as the entire hill is surrounded by greenery. The height of the Madhugiri is likely to be around 4000 meters height as the locals said. This hill also has temples like Lord Venkataramana Swamy and Malleswara built by the great Vijayanagara dynasty rulers in the Dravidian style of architecture.

Begur Fort
The fort walls encircle a temple, a few old houses and a couple of nondescript structures of antiquity. The area is grassy and relatively empty with a lake nearby and you can explore all this with a picnic basket, a camera and a sense of adventure.

Chikkajala Fort
This two-acre fort consists of a dilapidated dwelling and a huge hall supported by a number of stone pillars, a Pushkarni temple, and ruins of the fort. The pillars in the halls of the fort are of pre-Islamic style, but the temple is considerably more modern in outlook.

Medigeshi Fort
