Unfurls over an area of 17 acres, Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Park is one of a kind which claims to be the first conceptualized musical fountain park in India. It is located on the famous Raj Bhavan road in the old LRDE Complex that runs two shows of a musical fountain in evening. 

The 27 combination of fountains is arranged with the help of 1000 nozzles which offers a magnificent sight and sound treat. The water dancing on the rhythm synchronized sound is based on the latest multimedia technology. 

The sound is basically instrumental Bollywood songs which are played for a total of 30 minutes to provide a visual treat to the visitors. The fascinating sight of the fountains dancing on music attracts hosts of tourist who are visiting Bangalore and is loved by children.

Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Park was inaugurated in 1995 and is the first computerized Fountain Park in India. It was built by the B. N. A. Technology Consulting Limited. This enthralling structure is built out of multimedia technology, hardware architecture, and MIDI interfaces that give it a surrealistic appeal.

The fountain flanked by lush green gardens hosts two light and sound shows each day in order to pay tribute to the valor of Bengaluru. These Fountain Shows are conducted in the evening with a remarkable presentation of water dancing along with a massive screen displaying the graphical works in the backdrop.

The Department of Horticulture maintains the landscape and structure of the park, and have built a play area for kids. The park is also interspersed with structures paying tribute to various renowned personalities. There is also an imitated train engine built at the entrance of the park that was built in honor of the then Chief Minister of Karnataka C. M. Jaffer Sharief. He got to see the construction of the fountain in the first place.

It is said that with an extra ounce of effort in development, the park will transcend many foreign techniques and designs and attract more tourists from all across the world.

Fountain Dance is one of the spectacular displays of art at the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain. Sprawling over a 17 acres campus, the park can contain about 700 – 1000 people within its territory. Amid the place is a massive structure of a fountain with 1000 nozzles attached to it.

They play together to make an arresting blend of 15 formations and 27 combinations. The show begins and ends with patriotic songs in order to pay tribute to our country, while the middle is a combination of Kannada and Hindi tunes.

How To Reach



Bangalore is well connected when it comes to commuting. The park is located near Jawahar Lal Nehru Planetarium Road on T. Chowdiah, which is one of the most easily accessible areas of Bengaluru. You can hire a taxi directly at the airport, or catch an Uber or Ola cab. This is the most convenient way to reach the park. However, it is expensive.

Another way to reach the park is via buses. There is a bus stop outside the Bangalore Airport with buses leading to different parts of the city. You can catch a bus to M. G. Road or Cubbon Park to reach here. Another way of commuting is via the metros.

Best Time To Visit



The best time to visit Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Park is from November to February. In these winter months, the city is a little cold, with temperatures ranging between 15 – 21 degrees Celsius, thus making it the perfect time to explore the park with its green surroundings.

As Bengaluru is swamped with rain showers most of the year, it makes sightseeing difficult. The monsoon season starts in July and continues till the end of September, and is accompanied by unpredictable showers.
