Hulimavu Cave Temple Overview

This temple is shrouded with the stories of a saint who is believed to have conducted his tapas in the cave for years. Hulimavu cave Temple is located in the Bannerghatta National Park and is centuries old. 

The central area of the temple is decorated with idols of Ganesh, a Goddess and a Shiva Lingam, a mantap that was used by the saint who meditated here is now used by the devotees, there are ancient murals and carvings on the cave wall depicting a lifespan that is centuries old, are some of the main features of this cave temple. 

Every year, The cave is illuminated by the passing of sunrays and falling directly on the Shiva Lingam on Makar Sankranti and on this auspicious occasion, people wait in ques to witness the marvellous site. 

It is famous among devotees as they believe that worshipping this idol of Agni in this temple can cure any type of eye disease.
