Loch Ness And Urquhart Castle Overview

When it comes to places to visit in Inverness, you can get a chance to travel back 1000 years and immerse yourself in history. Head over to the Urquhart castle ruins, which are one of the largest ruins in Scotland, and enjoy the most scenic spot to view Loch Ness.

Loch ness is also known to be the most voluminous lake in the Uk as it contains more water than all the lakes of England and Wales. The Urquhart Castle which overlooks this lake has a history of over 1000 years with many battles fought during the medieval times.

You can head over to the grant tower to get the best view of the Lochness and then enter the prison cell that has held the Gaelic bard Domhnall Donn who was a great Scottish poet. The Urquhart Castle is also home to many artifacts from its residents such as a working trebuchet siege engine, and historic replicas.
