Optional Add-ons in Thrillophilia Europe Trip Package
Our Europe travel team gets in touch with you for your requirements before suggesting which tour package you should book. We also offer optional add-ons so that you can choose how your trip looks and pay for the services you like, rather than forcing a pre-decided itinerary on you. Here are some of the add-ons that you can choose for your next Europe trip:
- International Flights: International Flight bookings are available from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
- Schengen Visa Fees: Visa assistance is already provided, but the government visa fee is paid separately, which can be included in the package for end-to-end support
- Meals: Breakfast is already included; however, lunch and dinner of your choice (veg, non-veg, local, mixed, etc) could be added.
- Travel Insurance: Available as an add-on. Travel insurance is mandatory for a Schengen Europe visa, covering at least EUR 30,000 (approx. INR 3.2L) for emergencies.
- Personal Preferences: Personal shopping, local transport, and local activities are available as optional add-ons based on your requirements.
Schengen Visa for Indians
A Schengen Visa is the most important document to procure if you are planning a trip to Europe. European Commission report states that Indian passport holders must obtain a Schengen visa to travel freely across 29 European countries without needing separate visas for each. The visa fee is EUR 90 (approx. INR 9,600) for adults and EUR 45 (approx. INR 4,800) for children aged 6-12. There is no visa fee for children below 6 years of age. Additional VFS Global service charges of EUR 22 (roughly INR 2,000-3,000) and optional fees apply, and visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the decision.
- What it Includes: A Schengen visa gives you access to enter and stay in 29 European countries, such as France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain, and others.
- Applying Period: You should submit your application between 3 and 6 weeks before your travel date. Embassy appointment slots fill quickly during peak months (April to July).
- Time Required to Obtain the Visa: You generally get the visa within 15 working days after submission, but it may take longer during peak periods because of the high volume of applications.
- Where to Apply: It is recommended to submit the application at the consulate of the country where you intend to stay the longest number of days. Thrillophilia’s experts walk you through the process of application and embassy selection based on the countries you plan to visit.
- Thrillophilia’s Assistance: We will provide you with the needed guidance based on your travel plan. Our experts understand your case and then help you with the right documentation, so there is almost no chance of rejection.
- Documents to Submit: You need a valid passport, confirmed hotel and flight bookings, travel insurance, bank statements (last 3 to 6 months), proof of income, a leave letter from your employer if you are a working professional, and a filled-out application form.
How Thrillophilia Helps With Your Visa
- Our team provides you with hotel booking vouchers for smooth documentation
- Shares a professionally structured, day-by-day itinerary and complete travel plan in the format accepted by the embassy
- Provides complete flight and intercity transport reservation documents that need to be submitted at the embassy
- Guides you through the full documents checklist to avoid errors or missing papers
- Clarifies which embassy to apply to based on your route
Visa approval is in the hands of the embassy. However, proper documentation and a clear itinerary significantly improve your application and, hence, your chances of getting the visa.

Best Time By Region in Europe
1. Swiss and Austrian Alps: The months of May to September are best for experiencing the scenic beauty of the place. You will find snow from December to February in Europe. Since the weather in mountain areas can change very quickly, it is always wise to have a flexible schedule. Jungfraujoch remains closed 40 days a year due to fog and wind. It’s recommended to book early morning slots to maximise clear sky visibility.
2. Mediterranean (Italy, Spain, and Southern France): The months of April to June and September to October are perfect for travelling to the Mediterranean. July to August is very hot and crowded along the coastal areas. Rome hits 34°C+ in July, and many coastal restaurants close in August.
3. Central and Western Europe (France, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Hungary): April to October are perfect for general travel. December is great for a Christmas market visit.
4. Eastern Europe (Poland, Hungary, the Balkans, and Budapest): The months from May to October are comparatively cheaper because there is less tourist crowd in this period.
Budapest, which is a part of Eastern Europe, is known as the “City of Spas”. It is built on 123 thermal springs that supply mineral-rich water every day, which makes it Europe’s top wellness destination.
Must Visit- Budapest for thermal baths, and they are actually better in cold months (November - March)

What Makes Europe Package Prices Go Up or Down?
- Season: The May to September season in Europe is considered the peak time for travelling, when prices are generally higher. April and October are the months when one can get the best value. Winter is the cheapest time, except during Christmas and New Year.
- Countries Selected: Though Switzerland, France, and Italy may be more costly, mainly due to luxurious hotels and the high prices of attractions, those in Central and Eastern Europe, such as Prague and Budapest, are quite easy on the wallet.
- Hotel Category: Hotels located in central or prime areas of Paris or Rome are generally expensive. If you choose a 4-star hotel instead of a 3-star one in various cities, it will raise the total cost of the trip.
- Transportation Mode: Travelling by high-speed trains is one of the best ways to quickly and efficiently move from one city centre to another, especially since major routes can be checked in advance through official European rail schedules such as Eurail.
- Attraction Tickets: There are tickets for Swiss mountain excursions, Eiffel Tower summit access, and Vatican guided tours, which add to the cost but enhance the experience.

Every Europe Package Goes Through Four Checks Before It Is Released
- Country and Visa Alignment: Tour design experts follow Schengen entry rules and manageable country crossings, such that it’s realistic from an operations point of view.
- Intercity Travel Planning: Trains and short-haul flights are pre-selected. Intercity travel is managed by an on-ground operator, so that the operator responsibly drops the travellers at the destination at the right time, and the itinerary is not affected due to delays.
- Attraction Slot Confirmation: Eiffel Tower, Swiss mountain excursions, Vatican entry, and other timed attractions are planned around availability and the best season.
- Hotel Location Check: Hotels are chosen for closeness to train stations and metro hubs to reduce the daily travel time within the city.
Our itinerary team aims to provide an itinerary that is very realistic from an operational point of view. Based on 7,000+ Europe trips operated in 2025, our itinerary team understands the patterns that a particular destination and travellers possess, such as crowd and fatigue time. Based on that, we calculate and keep in mind each delay, break, rest or fatigue time, and other disturbances that may occur in a trip while designing any itinerary. If such issues occur, they are manageable because of the alternatives pre-decided.
What Thrillophilia Confirms Before And After You Pay
When you book with Thrillophilia, you are provided with a complete day-by-day itinerary, hotel category, list of included attractions, and type of intercity travel before you pay. You also get the full package cost and payment terms discussed beforehand with our experts. Once the payment is done, the final hotel names, exact train or flight timings, attraction entry slots, and room type details are all shared as official vouchers. We make sure that you have all the information and accessibility to our team. Rahul Mehta from Bangalore, who travelled with us for a 9-Day France and Switzerland trip in Jan 2026, mentioned that they never felt lost during the trip. From airport pickup to intercity trains, everything was pre-arranged and clearly communicated to them. This is the experience we aim to provide to our travellers so that your trip is sorted from start to end.
How Thrillophilia Handles On-Ground Problems
- Missed Transfers: In case of missing any transportation, an alternate train or flight route is mapped in advance.
- Rail or Airport Strikes: In case commute modes become unavailable due to strikes or other reasons, city sequences and transport modes are adjusted wherever possible.
- Weather Disruption in Alpine Areas: Outdoor activities are adjusted, while indoor sightseeing is prioritised.
- Visa Delays: Tickets are booked step by step, and routes are adjusted when timelines are tight to keep the journey smooth and flexible.
Key Planning Insights from Indian Travellers
After planning Europe trips for several Indian travellers across different seasons, we’ve noticed some clear trends. These insights help us design itineraries that are smoother, more practical, and ready for any alternatives if required. Vinay Ojha, who booked a Switzerland Romantic Escape with us in October 2023, gave us 5 out of 5 in post-trip feedback and stated that the itinerary was well planned. His travel buddy and the concerned Thrillophilia staff helped them in all aspects. Our product design team analyses the latest shifts in travelling based on the customer booking and experience data and then designs well-structured itineraries. This section provides key insights that have been drawn based on Thrillophilia’s official customer booking data of European trips from India for the year 2025.
- Fewer Countries, Better Experience: Based on Thrillophilia customer booking data for the year 2025, there is a 14% rise in travellers choosing fewer destinations per trip. Covering too many countries in 7 to 8 days leads to fatigue and reduces experience quality. Two to three countries in 10 to 12 days is the sweet spot.
- Minimum Two Nights in Major Cities: Major cities like Paris, Rome, and Amsterdam need at least two nights to be enjoyed fully without feeling rushed.
- Fewer Hotel Changes: Multi-city rushed itineraries have seen a preference decline of 18%. Travellers now prefer staying in one hub and doing day trips from there. Based on the booking data of 2025, there has been a rise of 22% in single-base day trips.
- Avoid Museums Right After Long Transfers: It is noticed among travellers that satisfaction drops when cultural sightseeing is placed immediately after long train or flight days. Thrillophilia routes are adjusted to avoid this.
- Mountain Trips Need Weather Flexibility: Alpine regions like Zermatt are planned with buffer time for changing conditions. Alternative routes or destinations are pre-decided in cases of bad weather to offer a similar experience.
- City Access Hotel Location: Thrillophilia’s post-trip feedback suggests that families show a 19% rise in preference for well-located hotels with easy access to main landmarks.
- Advance Planning: Going somewhere and figuring things out on the spot leads to time wastage, and you end up paying more than required. Hence, we understand all the activities or visits that need to be planned and booked in advance for a better on-site experience.
- Couples Prefer Slow Vacations: Honeymoon bookings show a 38% preference for slower-paced vacations and fewer destinations, noticed among travellers from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, Chandigarh, and Indore. It allows them time to have a memorable trip rather than a rushed one.
Train or Flight - How to Travel In Europe
When to Choose Trains
Best for journeys where cities are just 2 to 5 hours apart by direct travel. Works well when travelling from Paris to Zurich, Zurich to Interlaken, Rome to Florence, and Vienna to Budapest.
- You travel straight from one city centre to another. No need for airport transfers.
- No need to arrive early for airport check-in
- Managing luggage is easier
- Beautiful scenic view in train journeys, especially when passing through Switzerland
When to Choose Flights
Best for longer distances across different parts of Europe. Works well when travelling from Barcelona to Prague, Rome to Amsterdam, and Paris to Athens.
- It saves a lot of time when train journeys take more than 6-7 hours
- Connects faraway regions easily without using multiple routes
- Great for shorter trips when you have less time
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Many travellers neglect the airport transfer time and consider only the flight duration. A short flight sometimes takes half a day, adding time to reach the airport, security, and check-in.
- Sequencing cities in the right order saves travel time and cost. At Thrillophilia, our experts smartly design itineraries so that you explore beautiful stops along the way while reaching the final destination. It makes your trip fuller and more efficient.
- Avoid adding too many one-night stops. If you are travelling for less than 12 days, it is better to stay longer at a few places to avoid check-in, shifting, and commute time from one place to another.
Europe Travel Essentials for Indian Travellers
Currency and Cards
- 1 EUR = 107 INR (as of April, 2026)
- Many European countries use the Euro. Switzerland uses the Swiss Franc.
- International Visa and Mastercard debit or credit cards are widely used in Europe. Contactless payments are common in Paris, Rome, Vienna, and Zurich.
- Make sure to inform your bank about international use before travelling. Also, check foreign currency markup fees or any other charges, and enable international transactions.
- A forex card helps you manage spending and avoid fluctuations in currency conversion rates. Many international credit cards also offer free lounge access in airports; make sure to check the details or get one if you're a frequent traveller.
How Much Cash to Carry
- EUR 200 to EUR 400 (approx. INR 21,000 - INR 42,000) per person is enough for small expenses, such as local transportation, cafe hopping, or shopping in local markets.\
- Make sure to carry slightly more if you are visiting smaller towns or Christmas markets.
- Try to carry cards for payment and store extra cash safely in your hotel.
SIM and Connectivity
Yes, you can use international roaming in Europe, but it would be quite expensive. Local European SIM cards can be purchased at the airports or in city stores, and they cost between EUR 10 and EUR 40 (approx. INR 1,100 - INR 4,400) for 15-30 GB of data, which is sufficient for using maps, WhatsApp, and browsing. It is advised that you get a local SIM card at the airport or obtain an eSIM, such as Airalo and Holafly, which can be activated immediately upon purchase before your trip. Today, most of the phones are compatible with eSIM; however, do give it a check before buying one.
Safety
- Europe is considered the safest continent for travel for everyone, including Indian families or senior travellers.
- Be careful with your valuable belongings. Europe is generally considered very safe for travellers; however, pickpocketing can occur in some crowded areas, such as near the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
- Make sure to keep your passports, cards, and cash safe with you.
- Public places are very well monitored in Europe. Dial 112 for emergency services, if any.
Season-Wise Packing Guide
- April to June and September to October: Prefer packing light jackets, comfortable walking shoes, and layered clothing.
- July to August: Breathable summer wear, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle.
- November to March: Warm coats, thermals, gloves, scarves, and waterproof shoes, especially for Switzerland and Austria.
Customer Note: Make sure to carry comfortable walking shoes for your next Europe trip. European sightseeing involves a lot of walking.
VAT Refunds on Shopping
- Non-EU residents are allowed to get their tax (VAT) refunds on purchases that exceed a specified amount per store.
- Procure a tax refund form at billing, stamp it at the airport when leaving, and claim your refund using a card or cash.
- Paris and Milan are perfect for engaging in luxury shopping. Zurich has a good collection of Swiss watches.
