In general, Thailand Weather is mostly considered wet and rainy because of the long months of extreme precipitation seen by all the provinces of the region. If you are planning a vacation in this vibrant country, it is better to acquaint yourself with the climate in order to avoid any inconveniences.

Generally speaking, Thailand Temperature fluctuates according to the region and month, along with rainfall and humidity levels. Climate in Thailand is extremely wet from June to October when the entire country is plagued by torrential rainfalls. On the other hand, March to June is extremely hot and humid to enjoy the beaches or go sightseeing.

Therefore, November to February are normally considered peak tourist seasons because of the lovely temperature and pleasant weather, but you can also visit during the other seasons if you plan your trip carefully. However, a thorough knowledge of Thailand weather by month is essential to making trip arrangements.

When analysing Thailand weather by month, it is clear that January is the peak month for tourists for a reason. With pleasant temperatures all over the country and little to no rain, January is perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the beautiful sights this tropical paradise has to offer. You will be able to enjoy the beaches as well as national parks because the country sees a lot of sunshine during this time. Most of the regions see mercury oscillating between low 20s and low 30s when it comes to temperatures.

Avg Max. Temperature: 29-32 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 21-24 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 35-36 mm

2. Thailand Weather in February

February represents the last few days of the holiday season and the crowds appear a little thin during this month compared to the hustle and bustle of January. There’s an increased chance of rain in the northern regions, whereas the southern parts of the country will see a further decrease in showers. Temperatures remain pleasant around the 25-degree Celsius mark, and the best regions to see during this time are Ko Bulon Lae, Ko Kradan, Pai, and Ko Chang. Make sure you pack a sweater as it can get chilly in the evenings.

Avg Max. Temperature: 30-33 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 19-25 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 24-32 mm

3. Thailand Weather in March

March is the month just before Thailand Temperature rises to its hottest ever. Tourist numbers drop as mercury climbs and the weather starts getting too uncomfortable for sightseeing. Most of the people head to the southern regions of the country to escape the heart. The north faces heat that can melt off your skin and burn your back. If you are planning your holiday during this month, it is better to limit it to southern beaches like Ko Lao Liang, Ko Kradan, Ko Kut and Koh Jum. Make sure you pack sunglasses, sunscreen, and swimwear.

Avg Max. Temperature: 34-35 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 25-26 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 28-35 mm

4. Thailand Weather in April

Simply put, the country is blisteringly hot during this month. The average temperature can reach above 35 degrees, and the oppressive heat makes it difficult to even breathe, let alone go sightseeing. Empty roads are a common sight, especially during the day when the sun is at its most unforgiving. The only relief from the heat is the festival of Thai New Year celebrated in the middle of April which involves dunking buckets of water over each other.

Avg Max. Temperature: 35-37 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 24-25 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 40-55 mm

5. Thailand Weather in May

After the hottest months are over, Climate in Thailand sees a significant improvement in May when the monsoon arrives. The entire country sees better weather as rainfall levels rise and most of the regions see rain on a daily basis.

The temperatures fall, and humidity increases – but not so much that it is unbearable. It may not be a good idea to plan travel during this time though, transport may be limited because of the heavy rains, and flights may get cancelled too. The southern regions of Prachuap Khiri Khan and Pai can still be visited if you don’t mind the occasional showers.

Avg Max. Temperature: 32-33 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 24-26 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 100-220 mm

6. Thailand Weather in June

As soon as June arrives, the rainfalls take a step back and it feels that the entirety of May was a false alarm. The showers are fewer and far in between, except Ko Chang where rainfall increases a lot during this month. Temperatures remain more or less the same, and the weather is all around pleasant enough for sightseeing.

Brilliant green paddy fields line the Central and Upper plains areas, and the lush greenery is very eye-pleasing. It is best to enjoy sun, sand and surfing at Koh Samui, Koh PhaNgan and Koh Tao islands during this time, because the weather is warm without being overbearing.

Avg Max. Temperature: 31-33 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 23-25 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 120-150 mm

7. Thailand Weather in July

July is pretty much a continuation of June when it comes to weather. The temperatures remain the same throughout the northern and southern regions, and rainfall is slightly increased. It’s an all-around pleasant affair with sunshine, cool, breeze, and little to no humidity.

The southeastern islands of Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan, and Ko Tao are seen as major tourist attractions during July, although there is a bit of rain and wind. On the other hand, Ko Chang sees heavy rainfall, so it’s better to avoid this region. Phuket and Bangkok are also pleasant if you want to enjoy the party scene.

Avg Max. Temperature: 32-33 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 24-25 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 100-150 mm

8. Thailand Weather in August

There is a reason why Climate in Thailand is considered monsoon type – the rain just keeps on coming throughout June to August. It can be quite difficult to get around from one place to another since road transport is quite jammed. But the silver lining is that August also marks the end of the rainy season in northern and north-eastern Thailand, and it gets drier moving ahead. However, the southern regions still see plenty of rainfall, so it’s best to avoid them. Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan, and Ko Tao are the best places to visit during August.

Avg Max. Temperature: 31-32 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 23-25 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 120-250 mm

9. Thailand Weather in September

The month of September sees a significant change in Thailand temperature as well as rainfall decreases. Rainfall showers see a significant drop both in frequency as well as intensity, whereas mercury sees only a slight drop all over the country. However, the central regions of Thailand and Bangkok see a bout of heavy rainfall before precipitation levels decrease towards the end of the month.

The best places to visit during September are the southern Gulf of Thailand, Khanom and Sichon, and Umphang. It is the best time to enjoy the lush greenery and tropical weather of the country.

Avg Max. Temperature: 31-33 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 24-25 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 122-240 mm

10. Thailand Weather in October

Climate in Thailand during October is varied according to the region you are planning to vacation in.  the Central, North and Northeast areas are extremely pleasant with moderate temperatures and lovely weather. If you are planning a holiday in the country during this month, it’s best to stick to these regions.

All the islands see heavy rainfall during October and it is recommended to avoid them. There is a very good chance you’ll get stuck, and there may be tsunami warnings as well. Northern Thailand, however, sees cool temperatures and little to no tourist crowds – perfect for sightseeing.

Avg Max. Temperature: 31-33 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 23-25 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 120-300 mm

11. Thailand Weather in November

The rains finally stop in November all across the country and the weather improved significantly in the islands. Temperatures are extremely pleasant and humidity is low. Neither the scorching heat nor the endless rains will bother you now. November to January are considered peak tourist months and you will see hoards of tourists everywhere, especially during the tail end of the month.

Hotel prices surge, and everywhere you go, you will see vibrant crowds. Although you can visit almost any region, it is best to check out the islands as they are especially colourful and lively.

Avg Max. Temperature: 30-32 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 19-23 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 50-150 mm

12. Thailand Weather in December

Thailand Temperature is the most pleasant during December along with little to no humidity and occasional rain showers. Perhaps that is why the month is considered as peak tourist season in the country. Simply put, the weather is absolutely brilliant – the sunshine is warm without being overbearing, a cool wind is blowing, and the air is fresh.

The beaches are ideal for sunbathing, as there is a lot of sunshine to soak in. Mercury is neither too high, nor too low, and you will be able to enjoy sightseeing without burning up or freezing down. The best regions to visit during this time are Ko Lanta, Ko Kradan, Railay Beach, and Ko Jum.

Avg Max. Temperature: 28-30 degrees Celsius
Avg Min. Temperature: 17-21 degrees Celsius
Avg Precipitation: 1-66 mm
