A historic church located in the city center of Aberdeen, the kirk of Saint Nicholas uniting is also known as the mother Church of the city. Featuring a dark oak interior this church was first mentioned in a Papel document of 1151. Even till date the church retains a majority of its medieval features and decorative items, and is among the popular tourist places to visit in Aberdeen.
The Kirk of Saint Nicholas is one of the most historic churches in Aberdeen. Previously known as the Kirk of Saint Nicholas uniting the congregation has now been resolved as of 31 December 2020. Since Aberdeen is nestled close to the sea Saint Nicholas was chosen as the patron saint of Aberdeen after the rescue of sailors from a heavy storm. Over the centuries the church has undergone major reconstruction and changes but even today it retains some of its medieval features including the medieval vaults within its structure. Visitors can enjoy a time of silence in the church and explore the surrounding graveyards which house the burial of some popular figures in the history of the city.

• The present structure of the church house is the largest Carillon in Britain with 48 bells.
• The church is surrounded by a graveyard on three sides: north South and west and it does not follow the standard pattern like Scottish churches.
