STORYBOOK ISLAND

Storybook Island, located in Rapid City, South Dakota, is a whimsical children's park that brings beloved fairy tales and nursery rhymes to life. Opened in 1959, this free attraction delights families with its colorful displays, themed play areas, and interactive exhibits inspired by classic stories like Cinderella, The Three Little Pigs, and Peter Pan.

Spanning over eight acres, the park features more than 100 storybook-themed sets, including a pirate ship, a castle, and the iconic train from The Little Engine That Could. Kids can climb, explore, and immerse themselves in imaginative play, while parents enjoy the charming atmosphere. Seasonal events, such as the magical Christmas Nights of Light, add to its allure.

Operated by the Rotary Club, Storybook Island is supported by donations and volunteers, making it a true community treasure. It’s a place where families create cherished memories and the magic of childhood stories comes to life.
