Shillong Golf Course Overview

Shillong Golf Course, one of the oldest golf courses in India, is located in the picturesque city of Shillong, Meghalaya. Established in 1898 by a group of British civil service officers, it was later converted into an 18-hole course in 1924 by Captain Jackson and C.K. Rhodes. Known for its lush greenery and scenic beauty, the course is set at an altitude of approximately 5,200 feet, offering a cool and pleasant climate throughout the year.

Spread over a sprawling area of 5,873 yards, Shillong Golf Course is often referred to as the "Gleneagles of the East" due to its undulating terrain and challenging layout, reminiscent of the famous Scottish golf course. The natural landscape, with its rolling hills, thick groves of pine and rhododendron trees, and the gentle streams that crisscross the course, makes it a golfer's paradise and a delight for nature lovers.

The course's unique topography demands precision and skill, with its narrow fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and fast greens. It has hosted numerous national and international tournaments, attracting golfers from around the world. The Shillong Golf Club, located within the course premises, provides excellent facilities for members and visitors, including a clubhouse, pro shop, and dining options.

Apart from golfing, the Shillong Golf Course is a popular spot for leisurely walks, picnics, and photography, drawing tourists and locals alike. Its serene environment and breathtaking views make it a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Shillong.
