Govind Dev Ji Temple Overview

Govind Dev Ji temple is a well-known temple located in the City Palace complex between the Badal Mahal and Chandra Mahal in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Built in 1735, the temple is one of the seven temples of Vrindavan Thakur and has Govind Dev Ji, one of Lord Krishna’s forms, as the main deity. According to legends, the sacred idol of Govindji was made by Barjranabh, the great-grandson of Lord Krishna, at the age of 13 years.

By Car: The temple is located 15.3 km from the city centre. It will take around 36 minutes via the Elevated Ajmer Road/Jaipur Rd. 

By Bus: Take a bus to Sindhi Camp Bus Stand which is 3.5 km away from the temple. You can reach the location from the bus station with a 16-minute drive by car.

By Train: Take a train to Jaipur Junction Railway Station which is 4.5 km away from the temple. You can reach the location from the train station with a 19-minute drive by car.

By Metro: Take a metro to Badi Chaupar Metro Station which is 950 m away from the temple. You can reach the location from the metro station with a 13-minute walk

Best Time To Visit

The Govind Dev Ji Temple in Jaipur is open throughout the year, so can be visited at any time depending on convenience. The Best time of the day to visit the temple is during the time of its Aarti and rituals. The morning aarti timings are 4:30 am, 7:30 am and 9:30 am. If you wish to attend the evening aartis, you can attend at 5:45 pm, 6:45 pm and 9 pm. 

Other Essential Information

  • There is no entry fee for visiting the temple and you can visit at any time from 4:30 am till 12:00 pm in the morning and from 5:45 pm till 9:30 pm in the evening.
  • The aarti timings are changed during winters with the morning aarti being pushed forward by half an hour and the evening aarti being pushed back by 45 minutes.
  • As Govind Dev Ji temple is a place of worship, it is advisable to dress modestly and conservatively with dresses that cover shoulders and knees.
  • You will be required to remove your footwear before entering the temple premises.
