GLAMIS CASTLE

As you enter the gates of Glamis Castle you are welcomed to witness the extraordinary history of the castle, since 1372. Situated in the heart of Angus, Scotland the majestic castle has a lot to explore in its rooms and gardens. There are different rooms in which you’ll get to explore different exhibitions that have been put here.

The Lyon family, also the ruling family of Scotland, had lived in the Glamis Castle since the 14th century up until the 17th century. The palace is a precious property of the royal family because it was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth and it’s also the same house where the second daughter Princess Margret was born. The castle has been built between a broad and fertile lowland valley which lies between the Sidlaw Hills towards its south and the Grmapian mountains in the north.

The overall area covered by the estate is more than 57 Km in addition to parks and gardens. The castle has long towers measuring upto 7 metres in diameter and 4 metre in height, the walls of the castle are upto 1 metre thick, this suggests how tight the security of the castle was in old days.
