CANNON HILL PARK

Cannon Hill Park is an 80-acre park, which is located in Birmingham. The 80-acres comprises parklands with another 120-acres of woodlands, attached to the area. The park is also home to the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Centre and Mac Theatre. Mr T J Gibson designed the park. The park was thrown open to the public in 1873.

The Cannon Hill Park was donated to the city of Birmingham by Miss Louisa Ryland. It was meant to be a spot for recreation, that the locals would help conserve. Moreover, it is amongst the most popular parks in Birmingham and it has extensive options for outdoor recreation. As a visitor, you can tour the area, and engage in various activities like fishing, boating, and walking around the trails.

Moreover, there are formal parklands across the place, apart from the unkept vegetation. You can have fun over there, with your family and friends. You can engage in all kinds of fun activities there with the kids, which includes the swan pedal boat attraction as well.

Highlights

• At the Cannon hill park, you will find a Grade II listed bandstand, inside the park. It is a part of the original layout and set within a natural amphitheatre.
• You will also find several historical figures and monuments inside the park. They include the Boer War memorial, the scout memorial, Elan Valley Reservoirs, Glacial erratic boulders, and the Golden Lion Inn.
• Then, you can also spot the Red Carriage Bridge there.
• Other highlights include lush green parklands for children, lake boating facilities, and the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Centre.
