AGNI THEERTHAM

Agni Tirtham is one of the 64 Tirthas of Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu, India, it is known as the “Varanasi” of the south as it is in this place people believe to dip into the sacred waters and wash away their penance in life. It's a place that propagates mental peace, meditation and the practice of selflessness.

The word Agni alludes to fire in Sanskrit dialect whereas the word Tirtham implies sacred water. This symbolic meaning is what makes this Tirtham one of the most visited places in Rameswaram for a heavenly shower, hence a critical spot for Hindu devotees.

This Temple sees a mass of people flocking on the beach in the evening to practice their  daily prayers and many come to witness the holiness of the entire community of people in Rameshwaram.

Best time to visit: Early morning or late Afternoon, temperatures become very hot in the middle of the day.
