In September 1999 Taiwan experienced one of its worst natural disasters - a 7.3 magnitude earthquake. This Museum stands as testimony to the earthquake and the efforts that went into reconstructing the devastation caused by the earthquake. It has preserved the damage caused by the Ji-Ji earthquake such as the fault rupture, the ravaged school buildings and the elevated riverbanks.
The Museum has an Earthquake Engineering Hall, Chelungpu Fault Gallery, Image Gallery, Disaster Prevention Hall and Reconstruction Records Hall. Here you will also find the earthquake simulator room which is truly worth visiting. The premises also have basic facilities like snack bars, restrooms, etc.
