Langkawi Waterfalls

1. Temurun Waterfall
2. Seven Wells Waterfalls
3. The Durian Perangin Waterfall
4. Lubuk Semilang Waterfall

A prominent part of the island’s natural landscape, the waterfalls in Langkawi are known for their resplendent beauty. Stowed away across the slopes of the rolling mountain peaks, the waterfalls here are not only known for their scenic beauty, but form a great location for picnics and hikes as well.

The biggest and most challenging of Langkawi waterfalls, the Seven Wells Falls cascades from the slopes of Mount Mat Cincang. The stunning falls derives its name from the seven pools that form underneath it, and attracts tourists from across the island. The Temurun Waterfall, albeit smaller in size, is equally competitive in its beauty. The Sona Waterfalls is Langkawi’s best kept secret, while the Lubuk Semilang is a short cascade which forms an ideal picnic spot. The waterfalls in Langkawi remain at their best and strongest during its season of rain, which is generally between August and November.

Temurun Waterfall

The Temurun Waterfall, located near Datai Bay, is a three-tiered waterfall that cascades down from Gunung Matching Chang's northern slopes.

Temurun is the highest waterfall in Langkawi,  with a total plunge of 200 meters!

Unlike the Seven Wells Waterfall, this one needs less heaving and puffing to reach. The first-tier pool is a 5-minute walk down the main road from the parking lot.

The second layer takes another 5 minutes to reach, with 75 stairs in between.

There are vast emerald-green ponds on the second deck that are hard to resist for a refreshing soak. The uppermost tier of the waterfall, on the other hand, has a stunning 30-meter plunge.

Location: 161, Jalan Datai, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah

Seven Wells Waterfalls

Telaga Tujuh Waterfall, on the other hand, is regarded as the greatest of Langkawi waterfalls.

The Seven Wells Waterfall gets its name from the seven natural pools formed by streams pouring from Machinchang Mountain, Langkawi's second highest mountain.

This magnificent waterfall has a 91-meter vertical plunge. Its descent, on the other hand, is partially impeded from the base.

Keep in mind that the Seven Wells Waterfall is divided into two pieces: the upper and lower sections.

Prepare to climb 640 stairs to reach the highest area of the waterfall. The usual climb lasts 45 to 60 minutes, with frequent markings along the way indicating the amount of steps remaining.

Location: Mukim, Jalan Telaga Tujuh, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah

Timings: 08.30 AM- 07.30 PM on all days.

The Durian Perangin Waterfall

- The  Durian Perangin, or Sona Waterfalls, are a hidden gem that deserves to be recognised as the other waterfalls in Langkawi. T

- The Durian Perangin Waterfall, like the others, is located in a beautiful forest setting. It has 14 shallow levels with foot pathways and bridges connecting them.

- Sona Waterfalls is also a well-kept attraction with many tiny gazebos along the waterfall's path. The restroom is quite clean and placed near the entrance after the bridge.

- This waterfall is great for smaller children to romp and play since the rock pools are quite shallow.

- Take a 200-meter difficult climb to the top of the highest tier, which leads to a beautiful vertical stream and a giant flat rock.

Lubuk Semilang Waterfall

The Lubuk Semilang Waterfall is a 2-kilometer river stream with a relatively high waterfall and a bathing hole located about 5 kilometers from Raya Mountain.

Trekking across the Raya Mountain enhances the overall experience, and the quiet waterfall, which is rarely crowded, is ideal for getting away from the city's hustle and bustle.

Taking a dip here might be a good idea, as the water generally remains fairly cold.

The grass in the surrounding area is a popular picnic spot as well, making it one of the best waterfalls in Langkawi for a day out with the family.
