Mahsuri Tomb and Museum is the crypt of the legendary Princess Mahsuri. Also known as the Makam Mahsuri, almost all the natural attractions of the museum have fables attached in true Malay style and Mahsuri’s Tomb is definitely the most famous legend here.
Having great historical significance, Mahsuri tomb is the tomb of Makam Mahsuri - once upon a time, the prettiest lady alive on the island. She, along with her family, was an immigrant of Thailand and had upon her, the eyes of all men around; including the chief of the island. What followed thereafter led to her terrible death and come across to visitors in the forms of various mysterious stories.
However, it is believed that when Mahsuri died, she bled white blood that depicted her innocence. This place certainly makes for a visit for all history buffs, storytellers and learners who would like to dig deep into the past of this island.

he Mahsuri Tomb is located on Jalan Makam Mahsuri, roughly 17 kilometres from Langkawi International Airport in Padang Matsirat. The mausoleum is nestled in the interiors of the Langkawi village of Mawat and is only a 20-minute drive from the airport. Simply follow the numerous English and Malay signposts that will lead you to Makam Mahsuri.

You can visit the Mahsuri Tomb and Museum at any time of the day between 8 AM and 6 PM. In comparison to other Langkawi tourist sites, the place is less crowded. If possible, visit the tomb over a weekend to see a special program of Malaysian ladies performing folk music on a traditional Malay instrument called caklempong.
