There are more than hundreds and thousands of exotic animal and plant species are available in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. The part is 280 acres in size and is divided into two different parts, namely, the zoological and the botanical side. Some of the notable animals are the Borneo Pygmy elephants, Sumatran rhinoceros, Orang Utan, Proboscis monkey, Malayan Tiger, and deer, etc. When you look at the aviary, they give shelter to many species of birds like the hornbill, pigeons, parrots, eagles, egrets and many more. This is just the tip of an iceberg; one can spot a lot more different species of animals in this magnificent park.
Yes, of course. The Lok Kawi Wildlife Park welcomes both adults and kids, as the place is a complete family-entertainment center, filled with intelligent animals and birds. To give a joyful feeling to the children, the management has introduced a children’s section having pygmy elephants, ponies, and goats. Unlike other wildlife parks, here children could enjoy the elephant ride any day in a week between 10.30 am to 11.30 am and from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Moreover, there are eateries have special desserts and recipes exclusively for children. Thus, why don’t you surprise your kids by taking them to this wildlife park?
This Wildlife Park is famous mainly because it is a family tourist destination, where people of all age groups can come and get to know about the wild beasts and other soft-natured animals. In addition, it offers certain events and programs for kids that are one-of-the-kind. Some of the species like Mynahs, Parrots, and Orang Utan etc. are human-friendly, where visitors can touch them, talk to them, and have unlimited fun. Apart from that, the best part is the elephant ride for kids that allow them to fall in love with the great animal. However, tourists are advised to accompany their kids most of the time.
Yes. Photography can be taken with animals in the park. It’s always fun and entertaining to share a photo with your favourite animal. Hence, don’t miss to bring your high-definition camera to get some awesome photographs. Please note that there is no commercial photography and other photo shoots allowed inside the park. For birds, they can give pose like you either standing on top of your head or the lap. All birds are human-friendly, and they stand still until you get a perfect picture of it. But all photographers are advised not to use the flashlights while taking photos. It may cause discomfort or hurt the bird’s eyes.
The general timing is from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Yes. Visitors can cancel their visit to this wildlife park, but if they’d like to get some refund, they need to read the cancellation policy. • If you cancel more than 14 days before the tour date, you will get 70% of the tour package. • If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before the tour date, you will get 50% of the tour package. • If you cancel within 7 days before the tour date, you will not get any amount as refund. The refundable amount will be processed and transferred to you in 10 working days.
The Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is located 20 kilometres away from Kota Kinabalu city, and it takes 30 minutes to an hour’s drive to reach the destination. For transportation purpose, visitors can either hire a cab from the city centre or take a bus as the location is well connected in roadways. There is also a transfer facility included in the overall package. Tourists can inform the tour operator and give him their contact details and hotel address. They’re requested to be ready 10 minutes before the pickup time and have a smooth journey.
Yes. Visitors are allowed to touch the animals only after the instructor permits. In this park, the management has not only made a suitable environment for tourists to watch the animals closer but also allow them to touch and feel their presence. There will be instructors standing near every attraction and guide the tourists accordingly. For animals like elephants, giraffes, orang utan, etc. they will allow you to touch them and interact with them as much as you like. However, it is not allowed for lions, tigers, or any other predators.
Yes. Apart from the regular sightseeing, one can do deep into the park and explore various other plants and animals at their natural surroundings. Once confirmed with the respective authorities, visitors can go for jungle trekking, as the place is 280 acres in size. Before getting into this adventurous activity, tourists are advised to wear proper trekking shoes and lose outfits.
One must carry a valid ID proof while coming to wildlife park tour. Considering guests’ security, the management has made it mandatory to check the ID proof. Apart from that, one can bring a cool sunglass, a holiday hat, a digital camera, and a sunscreen lotion just in case. Since there is plenty of views available to take pictures, one can also come in his/her most stylish outfit and capture those exciting moments.
