About the destination:


Connecting Kinnaur with Himachal Pradesh, the Lamkhaga Pass Trek is a beautiful route exhibiting some of the best Himalayan scenery. Apart from being a scenic route, this pass is considered to be the toughest trekking path standing at an elevation of 17,320 feet.


On the way, you will come across various scenic vistas totally worth a picture and small stops like Dumti and Gundar will be visited. The path used to climb up will cover various remote areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand region.


Trekkers usually take a different route to climb down in order to add more places to their trip. On your way down, you will come across the Gangotri side of the pass in which locations like Ganganani and Harsil will be visited.

About the Lamkhaga Pass Trek:


Standing at an elevation of 17,320 feet, the Lamkhaga Pass Trek will bestow you with some of the best sceneries from the top. The real adventure in the Lamkhaga Pass Trek begins from Chitkul in which you will have to cover a distance of around 100 KM which can take upto 4 to 7 days. 


On the first day of your trek, you will reach the quaint valley of Chitkul and after some rest, a seven hour long trek towards Dhumti will begin. Upon arrival, you will rest overnight and on the next morning, a trek towards Gundar will begin. It will take around 5 to 6 hours to cover the trek towards Gundar.


On the third day of your trek, a six to seven hour long trek will be followed towards the Lamkhaga Pass base camp and upon arrival, the night will be spent there only. The very next, the descending will begin on the other side of the pass and you will be trekking for around eight hours to reach Kyarkoti. 


On the sixth day, the trail will continue towards Harsil and along the way you will come across many scenic views of Jalandhari river. Depending on the time you reach, you will be either camping in Harsil or a 30 minute ride towards Gangnani will take you to a cozy guesthouse.


The tour will end on the morning of seventh day and you will be driven towards Dehradun.

Lamkhaga Pass Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Chitkul to Dumti(Trek)

The first day of Lamkhaga Pass Trek will begin with reaching Chitkul on time where you will meet the guides. 

From here a seven to eight-hour long trek will be followed to finally reach Dhumti. 

The day will end with reaching Dhumti and resting overnight. 

On the way, you will cross various scenic vistas of the quaint valleys and lush green meadows.


Day 2
Dumti to Gundar(Trek)

The second day of Lamkhaga Pass Trek will start with waking up in Dhumti and enjoying the beautiful sunrise across the mountains.

Today you will be trekking towards Gundar and it will take around six to seven hours to cover the distance.

Once breakfast is served, the trek will begin and you will cross the gushing stream of Bapsa River. 

The day will end with finally reaching Gundar and resting for the night. 

Day 3
Gundar to Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (Kinnaur Side)(Trek)

The third day of Lamkhaga Pass Trek will begin with enjoying the mesmerising sceneries around you while trekking for 9 hours straight.

This will be the last trek to reach the top and the Basecamp of Lamkhaga Pass.

Upon arrival at the base camp of Lamkhaga Pass of Kinnaur side, the day will mark an end and the night will be spent resting.

Many activities like bonfire and much more can be done here in which you will surely have loads of fun with fellow trekkers. 

Day 4
Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (Kinnaur Side) to Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (Gangotri Side)(Trek)

On the fourth day of Lamkhaga Pass Trek , you will begin descending from the Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (Kinnaur Side) to Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (Gangotri Side).

The trekking will begin early in the morning and after around six to seven hours you will reach the Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (Gangotri Side).

The night will be spent camping and indulging in bonfire.

Day 5
Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (Gangotri Side) to Kyarkoti(Trek)

The fifth day of this trek will be spent trekking towards Kyarkoti and indulging in a blissful photoshoot.

You will be arriving at Kyarkoti in the night and the remaining time will be spent resting in your camps.


Day 6
Kyarkoti to Harsil (Trek) Harsil to Gangnani (Drive)

On the sixth day, the final trek will be done which will take you to Harsil.

Depending on the time of arrival at Harsil, the remaining itinerary will be decided.

If you reach before nightfall, you will be driven towards Gangnani where a perfect guest house will be waiting for you.

In case of late arrival at Harsil, the night will be spent camping at Harsil.

Day 7
Gangnani to Dehradun (Drive)

The seventh day will mark as an end to this trip.

Today you will be transferred to Dehradun safely from Gangnani.

The trip will end here and you will head towards your homes while carrying loads of memories with you.

Know Before You Go for Lamkhaga Pass Trek

  • One needs to follow all the directions and orders of the tour guide in order to enjoy a safe trekking experience.
