Horse Trek In Altai Mountains

Itinerary

• Day 1 -

  Arrive in Ulaanbaatar (UB), and meet your guide and get transferred to hotel in the downtown of UB city.

  After refreshment and short rest, the tour program starts with city tour to the Museum of National History which displays the rich Mongolian history and its splendid collection of Mongolian traditional costumes exhibits.

  If time permits go for a evening tour around of Ulaanbaatar which include the World War II Memorial at Zaisan hill with beautiful panoramic view of the city.

  Enjoy the welcoming dinner at the restaurant in downtown.

  Stay overnight in hotel.

• Day 2 -

  Early in the morning after breakfast transfer to the airport and fly to Khovd city which will take around 3 hours to reach.

  The Khovd city is the center of 17 minority nationalities of Mongolia.

  After reaching, star your exploration of Khovd city, and visit museum, Main Square.

  After lunch drive to the Yamaan Us which is 250 km from the Khovd city.

  On the way to Yamaan Us visit Hoid Tsenher caves which are one of the largest caves in Mongolia, with a main chamber at least eighty-five feet high. It was reportedly inhabited by Stone Age people during the upper paleolithic, 10,000 to 40,000 years old.

  Lat afternoon reach Yamaan Us and witness the ancient rock paintings, and visit black market.

  After that get welcomed by local horsemen and local guides and relax.

  In the evening set up your tent and enjoy the delicious dinner.

• Day 3 -

  In the morning meet your companions for the next days – horses.

  Today embark on a short horse trekking to familiarize and acquaint yourself with the behavior of Mongolian horses.

  For the following days you will horse trek up to the Unech valley and on final day will be rewarded by reaching to the top of mountain

  Tonight will be spent beside the fresh water lake by setting up the tents.

• Day 4 -

  From today start your horse trek amidst the Altai mountains.

  Sunrise and sunset in Altai mountains is a moment that you never should miss.

  Spend four days with nomads and experience their tradition.

  During these four days, the average distance of the horse trekking will be 10-15 km each day and will allow you to experience the nomadic life of Mongolia closely while you pass through the scenic landscapes of Altai mountains.

  In Altai mountains inhabit animals that listed as endangered species like the snow leopard, the argali sheep with its massive curved rams, ibex, lynxes, maral deer, falcons, foxes, golden eagle and the vulture. Many smaller animals have managed to survive in this environment including the snowcock, ringed-neck pheasant, beavers, and marmots.

  If you are lucky, this horse trek will give you chance to behold these beautiful animals and the best time to get sight of these animals are morning and evening.

  Stay overnights in tents.

• Day 8 -

  Today, drive back to Khovd city and take your flight back to Ulaanbaatar.

  Reach Ulaanbaatar in the evening and check in to your hotel and relax.

  Spend your time at leisure and at night have your dinner.

  Stay overnight in hotel.

• Day 9 -

  Ulaanbaatar Local Sightseeing

  After breakfast, explore the beautiful city of Ulaanbaatar and visit the Gandan Monastery, Museum of Fine arts, and Chinggis Khaan square.

  In the evening, enjoy the cultural performance and head back to your hotel and relax

  Enjoy a delicious farewell dinner in the hotel.

• Day 10 -

  Departure from Ulaanbaatar

  Today, head to the airport and take your flight for back home
