13 Days Bhutan Festival Tour

Itinerary

• Day 1 -

  Arrival at Paro

  After flying to Paro, meet your guide and driver at Paro airport. They will take you on a scenic drive through the beautiful Paro valley to the capital city of Thimpu.

  Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 2 -

  Thimpu City

  Visit Memorial Chorten and Chang Gang Kha Lhakhang temple above the city of Thimpu, for some lovely photo opportunities of Monks, prayer wheels and beautiful traditional Bhutanese architecture.

• Day 3 -

  Walk and lunch to the Tango Monastery

  Take a 45 Minutes walk through the pine trees to the Tango Monastery. Delight in a delicious lunch at the monastery.

  Spend the day exploring and photographing the 6 temples and Monks of the Tango Monastery and and Buddhist Collage.

• Day 4 -

  Dochula Pass

  Early morning journey to the Dochula Pass for a spectacular view of the Himalayas as the sun rises, before meandering onward to the beautiful region of Punakha.

• Day 5 -

  Sha valley of Wangdue and Mangdi valley of Trongsa

  Drive through the Sha valley of Wangdue and Mangdi valley of Trongsa with view of mountains, villages, agricultural fields, waterfalls, monuments and chortens, crossing the Pele-la pass at an altitude of 3,400 meters.

• Day 6 -

  Trongsa Dzong

  Visit Trongsa Dzong, one of the most beautiful Dzongs in Bhutan, and spend the whole morning there photographing before winding our way into the region of Bumthang for the festivals.

• Day 7 -

  Jakar – Bumthang

  The festivals around Bumthang are the most colourful and the most authentic in Bhutan, we will spend 2 full days in Jakar and enjoy sightseeing the temples and dzongs.

• Day 8 -

  Bumthang

  You will be exploring the most colourful and the most authentic in Bhutan.

• Day 9 -

  Bumthang and head back in the direction of Paro

  Leave Bumthang and head back in the direction of Paro, stopping in the Probjikha Valley in Gangtey where you will investigate and photograph at the Gangtey Goemba, a beautiful traditional 17th Century Monastery.

  If you are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of some of the famous Black Necked Cranes that migrate to the Probjikha valley wildlife reserve each year.

• Day 10 -

  Exploring Bumthang

  Leave Bumthang and head back in the direction of Paro, stopping in the Probjikha Valley in Gangtey where you will investigate and photograph at the Gangtey Goemba, a beautiful traditional 17th Century Monastery.

  If you are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of some of the famous Black Necked Cranes that migrate to the Probjikha valley wildlife reserve each year.

• Day 11 -

  Paro Valley

  Hike to the Taktsang Monastery and the Tigers Nest. You will have the option of a horse trip up to the Cafe at the half way mark.

• Day 12 -

  Kichu Lhakhang Temple and the Drugyal Dzong

  Spend the day around the beautiful Paro valley, investigating the Paro Dzong, Kichu Lhakhang Temple and the Drugyal Dzong before spending a free afternoon wandering around the scenic town centre followed by a farewell dinner

• Day 13 -

  Departure

  After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport where the tour ends.
