While the COVID-19 pandemic has affected a lot of places not just in the UAE but also the world, Yas Island has seen a relatively lesser number of positive cases. Furthermore, it has also been awarded the significant WTTC “Safe Travels” stamp, which has thereby made it the very first destination in Abu Dhabi to receive this honour.
The “Safe Travels” stamp by WTTC, or the World Travel and Tourism Council, is a one-of-a-kind global safety and hygiene stamp, which has been launched recently, and has been awarded only to the businesses which have followed the global levels of safety as well as hygiene protocols. Yas Island, in addition to getting this stamp, has also acted quickly, and provided deep and valuable insight to the travellers and residents about the “New Normal” after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Important Information about the Green Pass
All the incoming tourists are required to have the ALHOSN App in their smartphones. The App will distinguish them on the basis of their vaccination status. The app will contain a “Green Pass”, which will reflect the information about the Vaccination and PCR report related status of the tourist.
This Green Pass will be checked while entering all the attractions, theme parks and major touring places of Yas Island. The said pass will be required for anyone above the age of 16 and anyone below that can enter the major tourist attractions by showing a valid government approved document having their age.
This Green Pass will be used for entry purposes only and will not authorize anyone to not follow the Covid related guidelines. Wearing masks, keeping a safe distance and cleaning of hands is still mandatory for everyone.

How To Get To The Island

By Car
All you need to do is rent a car from anywhere in the UAE (or from rentals in and around Dubai and Abu Dhabi). To do so, you just need an International Driving License, which is easily accepted by local rentals here. Alternatively, along with a rental car, you can hire an experienced driver, who will not only take you to your destination but also double up as a guide along the way.

Taxi and Uber or Careem services are also available if you are travelling to Yas Island. Soon after landing in the UAE, you can avail pre-booked taxi services by calling their local operator numbers from the airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

By Boat
Wish to reach Yas Island by water? Avail the air-conditioned boats of Jalboot’s fleet of luxury ferries in the region, which cruise along the sea all the way to the island. The boats/ ferries have business class-quality seats and can be pre-booked via their website.

By Bus
Want to get to Yas Island on a budget? Local buses in the UAE are your best bet. Available regularly, and quite convenient, these buses can also be booked at lesser prices. If you are traveling to Yas Island from Abu Dhabi, you can take a bus from the 102 Bus Route via the Abu Dhabi Bus Station, which is located near the Al Wahda Mall.
Alternatively, if you are visiting the island from Dubai, all you need to do is head to the Dubai Al Ghubaiba Bus Station to get to the Abu Dhabi Bus Station, from where you can take the 102 Bus Route to the heart of the Yas Island.

Yas Express Shuttle Service
On the other hand, if you have a plan to visit Yas Island, you can also avail the complimentary shuttle service all the way to the island. All you need to do is present your Yas Island E-tickets or Vouchers before boarding the bus. These buses operate regularly and stop at various different locations from where you can board the bus.

Getting Around Yas Island

By Complimentary Shuttle Service
Just like you can avail the free shuttle service to get to the island, you can also avail the Yas Express Free Shuttle Service to explore the island, which connects all the famous attractions here in a single route. This shuttle service operates on a daily basis. There are two routes for the shuttle, namely the Blue and the Red Route, which can take you to all the attractions of Yas Island.

You can also explore Yas Island via the ADCB Bikeshare system, which is a bicycle renting and sharing system here. The system operates throughout the day on all days of the week, and you can use it to rent out a bike for one or three days via passes.
There are several Bikeshare stations available on the island, which are complete with touchscreen payment kiosks, where you can use your credit or debit card, and thereafter purchase a one-day or a three-day pass for yourself and explore the island at your own pace.
