Al Ain Museum Overview

Established in 1969, Al Ain Museum is the oldest museum of UAE, exhibiting its ancient history throughout the years. The museum is home to a plethora of artifacts retrieved from various ancient sites all across the country. The majestic Sultan fort or commonly known as Eastern Fort also lies within the perimeter of the museum.

The Al Ain National Museum, which was established and opened in 1971, is the UAE's oldest museum. An ethnographic area of the museum shows the region's culture and arts, as well as its historic civilization. There is also an archaeological area with finds from the region's archaeological exploration, as well as historic objects dating back to the Bronze Age.

Elegantly located on the western edge of Al Ain Oasis, Al Ain Palace of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan takes you on a tour through the grounds, lifestyles of royals over 80 years ago, their rooms, traditional majlis seating and narrow hallways. The palace portrays a mix of modern and traditional Bedouin-style architecture and showcases everyday life in a ruler’s fort. History buffs would admire this site the most, strolling throughout the palace. You will be amazed by the historical building’s architectural design and construction scripted using the traditional method. 

This lovely museum depicts the narrative of the UAE's ancient history, and history fans will fall in love with it. This is the UAE's oldest museum, founded in 1969 under the guidance of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's founder and popularly known as "Father of the Nation." The museum displays relics unearthed from the various archaeological sites strewn across the region, including stone tools and arrowheads going back to the sixth millennium BCE. It was built to record the history of Al Ain from the Stone Age to the creation of the UAE in 1971.

The private residence of the ruler and his family was renovated and converted into a museum in 1998 so that people may get an understanding of old culture and heritage. The opening hours of the museums are from 10 am to 6 pm every day of the week. When visiting the museum, one can live over days back to 80 years ago as the family-friendly museum offers unique and fascinating glimpses of life and culture of the region before modernization sowed its seed.
