Saraswathi Mahal Library, located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, is one of the oldest and most renowned libraries in Asia. Established during the reign of the Nayak rulers in the 16th century, it was later nurtured by the Maratha dynasty. The library houses a vast collection of over 49,000 manuscripts written in Tamil, Sanskrit, Marathi, Telugu, and other Indian languages. These manuscripts include palm-leaf texts and rare papyrus documents, covering a wide range of subjects such as literature, medicine, music, and philosophy.
