1. Rumbak Valley Trek: The moderately challenging Rumbak Valley trek is one of the Ladakh women's treks that is about 16 kilometres long and takes about 5-6 days. You reach an elevation of 4000 metres passing through monasteries like Hemis, and local houses. During the trek you may also spot rare wildlife like the Asiatic ibex, snow leopards and Ladakh Urials besides birds like golden eagles. 

2. Markha Valley Trek: The moderate to difficult Markha Valley trek is one of the Ladakh women treks that is 46 kilometres long. You reach an elevation of 17,100 feet passing through tiny hamlets like Nimaling, Markha, and Yurutse. You can book a women only trek in Ladakh and go to the Markha Valley to witness yellow to lush green landscapes besides the Indus River.

3. Sham Valley Trek: The easy Sham Valley trek is 37 kilometres long and takes about 6 days. You reach an elevation of 17,782 feet (5438 metres) passing through virgin landscapes, remote villages and the panoramas of the Hunder Dok village. You also get to cross high passes like Khardung La and Digar La at an elevation of around 6000 metres.

6. Sumda Chun Trek: The Sumda Chun trek is about 52 kilometres long and takes about 9 days. On this walk, you reach an elevation of 4541 metres passing through the frozen Chadar or the Zanskar River, and ancient settlements. At the end of the walk you get to visit the Sumda chun Monastery and Sumda Chey which is one of Ladakh’s oldest villages.

7. Stok Kangri Base Camp Trek: The medium level Stok Kangri base camp trek is around 30 kilometres long and takes about 7 days. You reach an elevation of 4950 metres on this walk passing through the high Stok La Pass. At the end, you are treated to 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks namely Pracha Kangri, Pyramid Peak, Golep and Suku Kangri. Stok Kangri itself, standing tall at 6,153 meters, offers an exhilarating challenge for seasoned trekkers.

8. Lamayuru to Alchi Trek: Set out on the thrilling 71-kilometre, 5-6 day Lamayuru to Alchi trek. This difficult walk, which ends at a height of 5153 metres, involves two days of tackling difficult mountain passes. You can explore historic gompas amidst stunning scenery, such as Alchi, Lamayuru, and Sumda Choon.

Yes, the Markha Valley trek is generally safe. Although the Markha Valley Trek is not technically difficult, the steep terrain, high elevation (reaching 17,100 ft), and over 60 km of total route make it physically taxing. Adherence to hiking requirements, physical fitness, and appropriate acclimatisation are crucial factors that determine safety.

How long is the Sham Valley Trek?

The Sham Valley trek is 32 kilometres and takes around 5 days to complete. Compared to other Ladakh women treks this is a short duration walk which takes you through the Apricot Valley and some of Ladakh’s remotest villages.

How high is the Nubra Valley Trek?

The Nubra Valley trek reaches a maximum elevation of 17,782 feet (5438 metres). It is 59 kilometres and there is an altitude gain of 2000 metres. During this trek you pass through some of the world’s highest passes like Khardung La, and Digar La pass at 5179 metres.

Is Sumda Chun Trek worth it?
