Being a wanderer herself, Saheli had always dreamt of visiting Ladakh. She describes herself as a lover of roads. The trip to Ladakh was a dream for Saheli. She finally decided to live the dream of exploring this region all by herself. Even though she decided to get on this journey solo, she was aware it wouldn’t be easy. She then chose to travel with Thrillophilia that offered her the best itinerary for the trip. Saheli was teamed with 5 other travellers who all belonged to her age group. She bonded so well with the fellow travellers that they decided to surprise Saheli with a cake on her birthday.
…Dream Or Reality!
Anticipating the trip ahead, Saheli boarded her flight from Delhi. The mesmerizing snow-covered mountain views from the window seat were starters that escalated her excitement. Reaching Leh at around 8:30 in the morning, Saheli was greeted with a smile by the Thrillophilia representative who helped her check-in the hotel. She then met her co-traveller, a beautiful girl from Dubai. Within just ten minutes of the conversation, it felt like they had known each other for long. The day went well as they visited Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and the local market with two other girls who joined them. Happiness was at its peak and they knew the trip had started! On returning back to the hotel, Tarun Dadlani from Thrillophilia introduced the girls to other fellow travellers on the trip. He helped them understand the need to stay acclimatized and undoubtedly, his suggestions turned out to be most effective during the journey.
On day 2, the group left early in the morning to visit the magnetic hill and the Indus-Zanskar confluence. The confluence features the meeting point of two distinct rivers with two distinct colours colours. It seemed extraordinarily beautiful. Four girls along with a young married couple having the same level of intelligence and excitement was a fun group to be with. Saheli’s trip was gradually turning out to be the best time of her life. On returning back to the hotel, what awaited Saheli was thoroughly a surprise. It was her birthday and her fellow travellers had arranged a big fat cake for her.
“It was one of the most memorable birthday celebrations of my life that will remain forever with me,” she said.
Birthday Under The Stars!
Day 3 was special. It was Saheli’s birthday! She was excited, happy and was looking forward to seeing the Nubra Valley. The rugged terrains, snow-covered hills and clear blue sky enroute were mesmerizingly beautiful. Nature was giving her the best birthday gift! For Saheli, the most amazing part of the day was reaching the Khardung La. And what followed thereafter was like a cherry on top of a cake. Yeah, her birthday cake! “Nubra valley was perfectly decked up to showcase its beauty to us. It was lively yet soothing. It looked like the perfect painting,” she describes.
Saheli took the camel ride, another birthday gift to her, post which the group headed to their wooden huts. The night was exactly like the night in her imagination; dreamy, glittery, and enchanting.
The following morning, leaving Nubra with a heavy heart felt tough. But awaited was equally gorgeous. The stunning Pangong. On the way back t the city of Leh, Saheli once again enjoyed the sights of the scenic landscapes and prepared herself for the best. It was a day full of travelling; covering miles and miles on the beautiful mountain roads before the team of travellers reached their last destination.
Pangong Tso is the biggest attraction in Ladakh, and visiting it was like a dream coming true for Saheli. At Changla, when everybody got off the car to freshen themselves up, they suddenly experienced snowfall; something they were not at all prepared for. The happiness of experiencing snowfall and traveling through one of the most beautiful roads of the nation was overwhelming for all of them. The journey to Pangong was totally fun!
“Pangong was hypnotizing!” Saheli exclaimed. Being there felt like an achievement to her. She entered the water and tears streamed down her face. It was a very proud moment for Saheli for making it this far, all by her own. It was cold, breezy with the soothing sound of waves in the backdrop. The magical views of the mountains on all sides only added to the mood.
The Beginning Of The End
6th and the last day of the trip was here. On the way back, the group visited Shey Palace and saw the valley of Ladakh from its very top for one last time. It was a moment of contentment. After returning back to the hotel, everybody received gifts from Thrillophilia as a token of love and the group partied the entire night.

But now, the time to leave for home had come! Next morning each of them was to set on their own paths. But it was a happy feeling. Saheli’s mind was full of joyful moments from the trip. The scenic views of the mountains, valleys and a variety of terrains had left her speechless. She was proud of herself for making her dream a reality and living every bit of it to the fullest. Indeed, these were some of the happiest days of her life. All the more because she had celebrated her birthday just the way she would have liked it; under the blanket of stars. Could she ask for any more? It was definitely the perfect end to the trip!
