The Flyer Overview

The Flyer is a flyover theatre attraction which gives 3D flying experience to its visitors. Located at Fisherman’s Wharf’s Pier 39 in San Francisco, this fully immersive, family-friendly experience offers guests breathtaking views. 

They soar above the clouds in a massive, two-level theatre with the help of cutting-edge technologies. 

You will be able to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city with the help of state-of-the-art HD film footage. It is captured by helicopters and drones as well as using cinematic artistry. Your experience of The Flyer will include motion seats, live-action along with computer-generated imagery to simulate flight. Choose from either of the two thrilling options - “The San Francisco Flyer” or “Wings Across America” and enjoy a wonderful experience.

How To Reach

The Flyer is located in Pier 39 in San Francisco

By Car: Pier 39 is 3.1 mi from the city centre, it will take 18 min via the Van Ness Ave route.

By Bus: Take a bus to Salesforce Transit Center which is 1.8 miles away from Pier 39. You can reach the location from the bus station with a 12-minute drive.

By Light Rail: Take a light rail to Montgomery Street station which is 1.8 miles away from the destination. You can reach the activity location from the train station with a 12-minute drive.

By Cable Car: Take a cable car to California St & Battery St which is 1.4 miles away from Pier 39. You can reach the place from the cable car station within a 9-minute drive.

Best Time To Visit

The Flyer is open year-round for visitors, allowing them to enjoy it regardless of the season.

Best Season: The best season to visit The Flyer is during fall, from September to November. During these months, the weather is mild with clearer skies, with pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds compared to summer.

Best Day of the Week: The best day of the week to visit The Flyer is on a weekday, preferably on Mondays to Thursdays when the place is less crowded than other days.

Best Time of the Day: The best time to visit The Flyer is in the morning or afternoon when the place has fewer crowds.

Other Essential Information

Visitor Tips:

  • To enjoy the rides, you will need to be under 300 lbs as per California Ride Safety rules.
  • While there is no age restriction riding The Flyer, there is a minimum height requirement of 40’’ or taller to take the ride.
  • The Flyer-San Francisco is not suitable for those who feel motion sickness or vertigo and also for people with heart condition, epilepsy and other major medical conditions.
  • Those who cannot be transferred from a wheelchair will still be able to experience The Flyer - San Francisco’s 3D video, but without the motion seat.
