ROMAN AGORA

An ancient marketplace of Athens; the Roman Agora was the primary centre of daily life of people. One of the most notable attractions here is the Stoa of Attalos, which is an ancient Agora, initially constructed by King Attalos II. Another famous attraction to visit at the Roman Agora is the Temple of Hephaestus, which reaches up to the beautiful Agora Hill. 

With a huge, open courtyard having a large number of shops in a row, Roman Agora had a fountain that enhanced the beauty of the place. Being one of the famous Athens tourist places, the entrance here also paved a way to the Tower of the Winds that was famous for predicting weather and telling time.

A library was also constructed in close proximity to Roman Agora and it also became the commercial centre of Athens. Various wars caused massive destruction to the site and then it came to be covered with houses, shops, churches and mosques.
