A few kilometers southeast of bustling Red Square lies the former royal estate of Kolomenskoye which was a summer country residence for the Grand Dukes of Moscow and Russian Tsars in the 16th and 17th centuries.
It’s a large, 390-hectare open-air museum and park to enjoy the spirit of Medieval Rus. Ascension church which is UNESCO World Heritage Site, Front Gate complex, Palace Pavilion of 1825 and St. George the Victorious Bell Tower and the Wooden Palace of Czar Alexei are some of the most famous of these buildings.
