INTERLAKEN MONASTERY AND CASTLE

The Interlaken Monastery and Castle is one of the more interesting tourist places in Interlaken and is also a Swiss heritage site of national significance. Everything from the sprawling lawns and open spaces to the handsome building complex makes it worth a visit with your Switzerland package.

The first documentation of this old Augustinian monastery can be traced as far back as 1133. It was later acquired by the state of Bern in 1525 and converted into a hospital. Today, the complex houses a registry office and district administrative office. You can visit the place for its impressive steeple, the Gothic cloister gallery and the overall architecture.
