Nestled in Leh's Nubra Valley, the Hundur Monastery is an ancient Buddhist gompa known for its serene architectural design. Beyond its simplicity, the monastery's strategic location offers unparalleled views of the surrounding mountainscape. Serving as the boundary for tourists, Hundur Monastery marks the endpoint of accessible terrain. Consider including it in your Leh Ladakh itinerary for a glimpse of its tranquility and scenic vistas.
Located just below the Nubra bridge is the Hundur Monastery. Although called a Gompa, the monastery is more of a Buddhist fortification than a temple complex. The architecture of the monastery is simple, and is said to have been done using primitive tools.
Interestingly, the Hundur Monastery is also the last point in Nubra Valley where tourists are allowed to enter. The monastery location also commands a beautiful view of the cold desert valley, making it the prime allure of the attraction.

The best time to visit the monastery would be during the summer months, ideally between May and September. Nubra Valley faces really harsh winters, and the monastery may remain inaccessible due to heavy snowfall.
