HOT SPRINGS YUMTHANG

Hot Springs Yumthang is one of the famous hot springs, located a few kilometres far from Yumthang Village, North Sikkim. The place is at a height of more than 11,800 feet above sea level. The local people also refer to this hot spring as Yumthang Tsachu. The water is rich in sulphur, and the average temperature of this hot spring water is around 50 degrees Celsius.  

You can take a hot water bath in the two pools filled with hot spring water. The hut can be reached by a pedestrian trail that crosses the Lachung River on a small bridge. These hot water dips are said to have medical benefits.

How To Reach

By Road:

Yumthang Hot Spring is approximately 22 km from Lachung, Sikkim. You can cover the distance by travelling in shared taxis/ jeeps, which takes around 50 minutes to reach. Moreover, you can also travel on your own by hiring a cab, private taxi or driving yourself.

• Consider packing extra clothing if you are planning to take a bath in Yumthang’s hot spring. 
• Make sure you don’t leave your wet clothes on the place; do carry a bag to carry them with you.  
• Refrain from throwing litter anywhere, either carry it with you or throw it in the dustbin responsibly. 
• Avoid climbing on the big rocks or running around as the path is uneven, and you can get hurt.
