This is an ancient fort located near Cloud Gate Dance Theater renowned for its architectural magnificence and impressive design. It overlooks the mouth of the Tamsui River and was set up just after the Sino-French War when the Qing Dynasty realized how important the river was for transportation and trade.
The Fort San Domingo's site includes the British consul's residence, the main fortress, and the south gate that was built during the Qing dynasty. Four cannons have been placed in the fort's front, which can be traced back to the Jiaqing era.
