Strolling along the beautiful Ribeira Waterfront, also called Cais da Ribeira, is one of the most popular Porto attractions and a must-visit. The beautiful waterfront starts from the west of the iconic Luis I bridge and continues along Ribeira square. The neighborhood is packed with charming cafes and restaurants where you can indulge in authentic Portuguese cuisine.
It is also said that the upper walkway of the riverfront is the remains of the medieval city walls and Portuguese soldiers often patrolled in this part of the city. Head over to the narrow streets and alleyways where you can explore many beautiful restored properties and buildings and meet the locals. Climb the staircases at the waterfront and explore the colorful buildings which are stacked like lego bricks decorating the whole area.
