BHOPATGAD FORT

One of the most important places to visit in Jawhar, Bhopagat Fort is one of the most significant historical spots in this small town. This fort was also built by the great Maratha emperor, Chhatrapati Shivaji and is symbolic of the Maratha Kingdom. The fort is known to be carved out of dilapidated rocks and has mysterious dark inner chambers. Chhatrapati Shivaji is known to hold various meetings at this very fort.

Another legend also marks the visit of Hindu god, Lord Ram, along with Goddess Sita and his 2 sons, Luv and Kush to this place. Their visit to this place is believed to be marked by 4 footprints present at the place, even today. Due to this very reason, the fort also attracts a huge number of Hindu Devotees on special occasions.
