About Arco de la Macarena

The Arco de la Macarena is one of the most iconic landmarks in Seville, Spain, which is one of the three city gates that remain in Seville today. It is located in the historical center of the city, next to the Postigo del Aceite and the Puerta de Córdoba. 

A Romanesque archway dating back to the 12th century, the Arco de la Macarena is beloved by locals and a popular spot for tourists. Located in Plaza de la Macarena, the archway is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, making it a beautiful example of Spanish Romanesque architecture.

The Arco de la Macarena is made of brick and stone and has a pointed arch and two window openings. The gate is adorned with a relief of Our Lady of Hope (Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza), the patron saint of Seville.
