How To Reach

  • By Car: Trompenburg Gardens & Arboretum is approximately 7 km from Rotterdam city centre. It will take around 20 minutes via the A16 route. Follow the A16 and take exit 25 to the centre of Rotterdam, then follow signs for ‘Honingerdijk/Trompenburg’. There is a parking area directly in front of the garden.
  • By Bus: Take bus 489 to the Hes station or bus 66 to the Hes (Alleen Instappen) station. The closest bus stop, Hes, is about a 15-minute walk from the arboretum.
  • By Tram: Take tram 21 or tram 24 from Rotterdam Centraal or Rotterdam Blaak stations towards De Esch. Get off at the Woudestein stop, then walk to the garden.

Best Time To Visit

You can visit Trompenburg Gardens & Arboretum all year round to experience its changing beauty with each season. The best season to visit is spring, particularly in May when the rhododendrons are in full bloom and the Spring Festival takes place. For a quieter experience, visit on a weekday, preferably Monday through Friday, to avoid the weekend crowds and enjoy a more peaceful stroll through the gardens.
