How To Reach

By Car: The zoo is approximately 5 km from Rotterdam city centre. It will take around 15 minutes via the A20 and A13 routes.

By Bus: Take bus number 33 to the Bentinckplein station, which is 1 km away from the zoo. It’s a 3-minute walk from the bus stop to the zoo.

By Light Rail/Metro: Take the SPR train to Diergaarde Blijdorp station, which is 500 meters from the zoo. It’s a 5-minute walk from the station to the zoo. Alternatively, take metro line E to Blijdorp station, which is 600 meters away. It’s a 6-minute walk from the metro station to the zoo.

Best Time To Visit

You can visit Rotterdam Zoo year-round, as it offers unique experiences in every season. Spring (March to May) is ideal, with mild weather and blooming flowers enhancing the zoo’s beauty. It's a perfect time for outdoor exploration. Weekdays are the best time to visit to enjoy a more relaxed experience and shorter lines by visiting Tuesday through Thursday. Arrive early, right at opening time, 9:30 am to avoid crowds and enjoy a peaceful stroll through the zoo before it gets busy.
