Visit Erawan Shrine

The Erawan Shrine opened in the year 1956 gets its name from the Erawan Hotel which was the reason why the shrine was built in the first place. The shrine which is dedicated to the Hindu god of creation Brahma, or Than Tao Mahaprom, is steeped in mystery and superstition.
It was built when the workers constructing the Erawan Hotel kept facing problems and demanded that the spirits be appeased before construction could continue. It was then that the ornate 4-headed gold statue was built and it still attracts thousands of visitors every year.
