Since South Florida is home to the only subtropical zoo in the entire country, it is able to care for a wide range of creatures from Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Americas that represent a diverse mix of species that is unmatched by any other zoo in the nation.
1. Blue Poison Dart Frog: Living on the periphery of water sources, the blue poison dart frog appears terrestrial. This frog rarely swims in deeper waters because its feet are not webbed.
2. Blue poison dart frogs are violent and possessive when necessary: typical courtship rituals involve chasing and wrestling started by the female. The male will then visit and fertilize the eggs after the female has laid their eggs in the water.
3. American Flamingos: With your Zoo Miami tickets you can visit the American flamingos which are recognisable icons of the way of life in South Florida. More than 40 of these stunning birds are waiting to welcome guests to Zoo Miami. They are vibrant, colorful, and loud. They can be seen lounging around in their trademark position, standing on one of their skinny legs with their heads tucked into their body, at our brand-new, cutting-edge entrance plaza. Keepers at Zoo Miami give the flamingos carotene-rich pellets twice daily. This is what gives the birds their stunning color.
4. Aardvark: Aardvarks are lone, medium-sized, nocturnal mammals that are indigenous to Africa. Although they are unrelated, the moniker "earth pig" derives from the Afrikaans language and refers to the animal's propensity for burrowing. They share a tight relationship with elephants, hyraxes, tenrecs, sirenians, and elephant shrews.
The Mod Squad arrived first followed by The Geek Squad. The Zoo Squad is now present, you can see Gigi the giraffe, Kaz the rhino, Pio the red-billed oxpecker, and the newest member, Ellie the croc, are four fascinating characters that you should get to know.
