The local currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD). Credit cards are widely accepted in cities, but carry cash for small towns and markets.
Jordan has a desert climate; pack light, breathable clothing for the day and warm layers for cool evenings, especially in Wadi Rum.
Modest clothing is recommended, especially when visiting religious sites. Women may need a scarf to cover their heads in mosques.
Stay hydrated, especially in desert areas like Wadi Rum and Petra. Carry a reusable water bottle and wear sunscreen.
Jordanians are hospitable; a simple "Shukran" (thank you) is appreciated. Avoid public displays of affection and ask permission before taking photos of locals.
