How to reach:
Mcleodganj lies at a distance of around 500 km from Delhi or about 250 km from Chandigarh. You can either reach by your own car or by using public transport such as train, bus or air.
The best option to reach Mcleod Ganj from Delhi is to catch the overnight Volvo of either HRTC or HPTDC. There are other private operators as well that run buses between Delhi and Dharamshala in the evening.The second and the cheapest option but a hectic one to reach Mcleod Ganj or Triund is to travel by train. One can take a train to Pathankot which takes around 6-7 hours.
The Triund trek best time is during the month of March to June. The weather remains very cozy and comfortable with clear views. The weather in Triund is cool and comfortable around the year, except for the chilly winter months.
The Triund trek difficulty level is from easy to moderate. The trek involves gradual to steep ascents that beginners too can easily take it. The first 5 KM is simple and is easy.
A good trekking shoe is a must for your trek. While you are heading for this trek, choose trekking shoes that are flexible and have good ankle support. Also, see that they are water-resistant. Quechua Forclaz 100 high will be a good option for you.
The trek is not very difficult, but there are tricky trails as well which requires climbing in deep snow. But for that, you need to prepare yourself. Also, start with brisk 10 minutes walk every day and then some physical exercise like stretching. You can also do some yoga every day to regulate your breathing properly.
The triund trek height is 2,828 m at the foot of the Dhauladhar ranges. To be precise, the ridge elevation is between 2,810m and 2,875 m. The maximum altitude is around 9,432 ft. above the sea-level. From the peak, you can delight your eyes with the beauty of the mighty Dhaulidhar. Tourists can trek to the highest point of the peak and return by evening.

By road – one can take a direct bus from Delhi or Chandigarh, and arrive at McLeodganj.
By flight – Gaggal is the nearest airport to McLeodganj. One can fly to Dharamshala, and take another flight to Gaggal from there.
By rail – Pathankot has the closest railway station to McLeodganj. From there, there are many local means of transport available. The reporting location for the trek is in Dharamkot, just 10 KM away from McLeodganj. From McLeodganj, tourists generally go by walk to reach the basecamp, or by taking a private taxi.
