About the Activity:

  • The wildlife found in Ladakh has special recognition as all the species here are very rare and only live in such a climatic condition. Hence, protecting them is a crucial task for maintaining the balance of nature prevailing in Ladakh and the surroundings.
  • Hemis National Park where the number of snow leopards is comparatively higher is the target of this 11 day trekking trip starting from Leh.
  • From October to March, it is the ideal time to spot many snow leopards freely roaming in their habitat searching for their preys.
  • Arrive at Leh on the first day and roam around to create a mesmerising rapport with the land of monastery and rough terrains.
  • Visit the famous Buddhist monasteries in and around Leh, spend three to four days around Hemis National Park to have the best views of snow leopard and other commonly seen animals like Nyan or Tinetan Argali, Himalayan blue sheep, Uriel, Shapo, Asiatic ibex skin, red fox, Tibetan wolf, Pallas Cat etc.
  • The package includes food, accommodation and transportation during the trip which is inclusive of airport transfer.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Arrive at Leh

    On the first day of the tour, arrive at Leh airport any time and get transferred to the hotel you stay overnight.

    Check in and relax.

  • Day 2 -

    Sightseeing in Leh

    The land of monasteries and ex-kingdom of Buddhism, Leh still preserves its old glory unblemished.

    Post breakfast, head out for a drive and start the sightseeing excursion with a visit to the Shey Palace, Thiksey, Hemis monasteries and Stok Palace Museum.

    Return to your hotel by late evening and wind up the day.

  • Day 3 -

    To Alchi

    Have breakfast and drive to Alchi, a monastic complex in Alchi Village.

    On the way, visit Basgo Palace, Liker Monastery and Phyang.

    Arrive at Alchi and enjoy the semi-arid cold desert.

    Return to Leh afterwards.

    Stay overnight in the hotel.

  • Day 4 -

    Leh to Phey

    Get a drive to Phey Bridge after breakfast.

    Once you reach Phey Bridge, start walking along the Indus River toward Zingchen Gorge.

    Stay overnight in Phey.

  • Day 5 -

    Wildlife viewing

    Indulge in a full day tracking of snow leopard and its prey.

    Observe how closely they watch each step of their pray and catches it.

  • Day 6 -

    Continue the wildlife watching today, spot the snow leopard in different points.

  • Day 7 -

    From day 7 to day 9, wildlife watching and the visit to nearby villages will be happening. Also indulge in trekking to the different sites where snow leopard can be spotted vividly.

  • Day 10 -

    Trek to Zingchen

    Enjoy an extensive trek to Zingchen and return to Leh.

    Wind up the trekking trip.

  • Day 11 -

    Transport to the airport

    With plenty of good memories and wildlife photographs, get a transfer to the airport.

    Conclude the trip.
