Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Arrival at Paro and sightseeing trip to Drukyel Dzong.

    Hike to Dzongdrakha (optional)

  • Day 2 -

    Sightseeing to Paro/Thimphu and Ta Dzong Museum

    Hike to Zuri Temple (optional)

    Visit traditional handicraft workshops and National Library

  • Day 3 -

    Travel to Punakha - Mountain views at Dochu La Pass.

    Descend into milder valley and Punakha Dzong

  • Day 4 -

    Start Trek to Limukha via village of Dompala, and dine with local villagers.

  • Day 5 -

    Trek to Chungsakha through rhododendron and oak forest, crossing Dochen La Pass (8,500 feet)

    Visit old monastery of Drukpa Kuenlay and the Divine Madman

  • Day 6 -

    Trek to Samtengang

    Cultural evening of singing and dancing with local villagers

  • Day 7 -

    Trek to Khelakha/Gangteng - following old monk trail into Dangchu Valley

    End Trek and enter Phobjikha Valley

    Visit Gangteng Gompa monastery

  • Day 8 -

    Phobjikha/Chuzomsa - Walk into ecological sanctuary, view black-necked cranes.

  • Day 9 -

    Travel to Thimphu - Free day for individual exploration

  • Day 10 -

    Departure from Paro
