Rupsho Trek Brandinallah Tsomoriri Overview

Rupsho is a nomadic area, eastern of Ladakh, surrounded by green valleys and dramatic mountain scenery. This picturesque mountain valley is blessed with profound natural beauty that portrays images of glaciers full of snow that slowly gives its place to small streams running down the mountains and ending up blending with Indus River and the surrounding beautiful lakes with the crystal waters.

Starting the trek from the world known Hemis monastery (approx. 45km far from Leh),then heading for Indus Riverand going through Kongmaru La at 5,110m, just to end to Rupsho. The entire trekking experience is enhanced with the beauty of the scenery while stepping through it and it is for sure that you will be amazed by the wild flora and fauna, the scenic view of the mountain ranges with the snowy peaks, the pasture lands, high-altitude lakes, nomadic tents made of Yak wool and Friendly people.

When you reach the end of the trek, you will have to deal with a breath-taking view from the turquoise-blue Gyama La, at 5,440m, which is TsomoRiti treks highest pass. While descending we cross the Korzok villages desert plain, where we should expect to find numerous hotels and families and the most distinguishing feature of the Lake area is the Korzok monastery.

Day 1: Manali Keylong (6-hour drive, 115km)

Breakfast at Manali, then over Rothang La and Keylon, where we will stay overnigh at a local hotel.

Day 2: Keylong - Sarchu - Brandinallah (aprox. 6-hour drive, 127km)

Departure from Keylong and heading for Brandinallah. Trek over Baralacha La, at 4,892m. Free rest of the day for trek-preparation and tend-camp for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Brandinallah - Sokmikchik (aprox. 4-hour trek, 4,050m)

Breakfast at Brandinallah, then 3-km trekking on motorable highway. Turning left in the valley, along Tsarap Chu River (right), via bouldered-stream area up to the point when river branches off and follow the small Morang La stream. Sokmichik is the place for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Sokmikchik - Tabok ( aprox. 3-hour trek, 4,550m)

Rapid high altitude through thorny-bushed narrow gorge and willow trees for about 60mins and steep-climbing for 2 more hours until the camp and stay overnight, in the heart of the mountains.

Day 5: Tabok - Morang La (aprox. 6-hour trek, 5,250m, Tuzak at 4,500m)

Early departure with 4-hour steep ascent until we reach the pass, after going through a narrow valley. Descend towards the valley and then the narrow gorge will lead us to a small field next to the stream and camp overnight.

Day 6: Tuzak - Jabuk (aprox. 5-hour trek, 4,400m)

Valley rapidly opens up right after our departure and we make steep ascend for about an hour before descending to Lun, where we cross some rivers and then reach our campsite to stay overnight.

Day 7: Jabuk Zara (approx. 5-hour trek, 4,250m)

Scenic walk through the mountains, cross Zara River, reach Sangastha. After visiting Nomad houses, we cross some rivers and keep on trekking on an easy trail up to Zara, where we will stay overnight.

Day 8: Zara - Tsokar (aprox. 5-hour trek, 4,550m)

Easy trekking towards Pang and out on the Manali/Leh road (below Tanglang La). Arrive at «The Salt Lake» (Tsokar) after walking through some more plain and relax bird-watching. If luck we might see Wild Ass (Skiyangs) herds.

Day 9: Tsokar - Hermanla (aprox.6-hour trek, 4,850m / Rojangkuru at 4,700m)

Walk on the right side of the lake and then arrive under the pass and steep ascend for the next 2 hours. Additional 30 mins will take us to picturesque meadow lying beside KazurLas stream, where we camp overnight.

Day 10: Rojangkuru - Kazur La (aprox.6-hour trek, 5,300m / Gyame at 5,050m)

Keep trekking on the right side of the stream and then arrive below the pass, where we ascend steeply for about 3 hours. Spectacular view of the +6,000m mountain peaks and then descends to valley for another 1-hour flat walk until we reach the camp.

Day 11: Gyame - Tsomoriri Lake (aprox.7-hour trek, 4,500m)

Departing from camp, we cross the stream and then into a narrow gorge. Descend until Tsokar road and then easy-walking for an hour before reaching the camp.

Day 12: Tsomoriri

Free day for lake-exploration and visit the Karzok Monastery. We will stay overnight in the camp.

Day 13: Tsomoriri - Leh(aprox. 8-hour drive, 240km, 3,500m)

Breakfast and drive to Leh by jeep.
