Rhododendron Trek Overview
The trekking camp 'Rhododendron Trek' is presented at Devariyatal, Uttaranchal. It is a short easy trek running parallel to the high Himalayan Treks. In this trek you walk though verdant tropical and alpine forests where a great variety of orchids and rhododendrons and primuleas carpet the alpine terrain.
We can begin a trek here for the upper areas of the Langtang Valley. Nine species of Rhododendron can be seen in this region. An easy 4 km trek from there takes one up to the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. Rhododendron Trek - a trek adorned with beautiful resplendent flowers of rhododendrons grown in their full bloom. This fabulous Uttaranchal trekking of the valley offers a wide scope of bafflement. Our tour starts from Haridwar to Chopta. Rhododendron locally known as Guras is the delight of the Eastern Himalayan mountains.
Day 01: Arrival at Haridwar
Board the train from New Delhi early morning to reach Haridwar by afternoon.
Day 02: Drive Haridwar - Sari and trek to Devariyatal (2440m) 7 hrs drive and walk 1hr30mins.
Early in the morning take your breakfast and then get ready to visit the river Alaknanda before entering the Mandakini valley. Its a gradual ascent all the way up to the beautiful lake of Devariyatal.
Day 03: Trek Devariyatal - Chopta (3000m) 6-7 hrs
A drive of 6-7 hrs the trail goes through the dense forest and stays at the edge all the way to Tali. From here we will descend for a while to cross a stream and then climb up gradually to reach Chopta, located in a tranquil setting having beautiful meadows and is surrounded by dense forests.
Day 04: Trek Chopta - Tungnath (3680m) - Chandrashilla Top (4130m) - Chopta.
On this day we will start early in the morning and climb up to the temple of Tungnath and beyond. Tungnath, one of the Shiva temples is the highest temple in Garhwal and has certainly a mystical/religious aspect which is quite based on the spectacular surrounding and views from there. The summit of the Chandrashilla peak provides a breathtaking 360 degree view.
Day 05: Drive Chopta “ Haridwar 6-7 hrs
On last day, a 6-7 hrs drive will take us back to Haridwar. Board a train in the afternoon to reach New Delhi.
