Arrival in Manali
You need to arrive at the designated hotel in Manali by 12 noon, where you will meet your co-riders.
Post lunch, the road captain briefs everyone on the route and the day-wise plan.
After the briefing, head out for a short spin on the motorcycles. If any adjustments are needed as per your preference, the mechanic will take care of it.
Manali to Gushaini
Start off the ride and head south, riding with the Beas river by your side.
Head towards Gushaini, a small village situated along the Thirthan river in Banjar. Gushaini is the entry point to the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), famous for its rich bio-diversity.
You'll stay at a comfortable guest house with a homely atmosphere.
Gushaini to Sarahan
Leave the Tirthan valley and ride along the GHNP, climbing up towards the Jalori Pass (10,800 feet) through picturesque Deodhar jungles.
This is a challenging part of the day’s journey because the road goes from bad to worse towards the top, with some tricky curves thrown in as well.
After the descent from Jalori pass, you will reach the beautiful town of Sarahan, famous for the Bhimakali Temple.
Overnight stay st hotel in Sarahan.
Sarahan to Kalpa
Today, you will ride on the famous Hindustan-Tibet Highway along the Sutlej river. A tarmac road with easy riding conditions with beautiful views of the Sutlej, it helps to reach Kalpa comfortably.
Kalpa is the main town of Kinnaur district, home to the delicious Kinnaur Apples.
Kalpa also offers a spectacular view of one of the holiest mountains in India - Kinner Kailash.
Kalpa to Tabo
After an early breakfast, continue riding upwards along the narrow valley within which flows the Sutlej river.
After some grueling stretches of dirt tracks and water crossings, you will enter the barren land of Spiti Valley.
Tabo-Dankhar-Kaza
Being an easy riding day, visit Tabo monastery (10,010 feet) in the morning. This monastery is famed for its vast collection of frescos and stucco paintings and is called the Ajanta of the Himalayas.
Also, visit Dankhar monastery (12,774 feet), one of the oldest monasteries in the world. The monastery is built on a high spur overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin rivers.
Dankhar was the capital of Spiti valley until the necessities of modern life forced it to shift to Kaza.
Kaza Buffer Day
A well-deserved rest day, you may use today to just chill out or check out the town. There are internet cafés in Kaza for you to go online from, if you so wish.
It's a good idea to get enough rest for the upcoming rides in the next couple of days.
Kaza- Kibber- Komik- Kaza
Kaza (11,980 Ft) is the capital of the Spiti region. Today's highlight is the ride to the Kibber (14,200 feet) and Komic (14,830 feet) villages, the highest altitude villages in the world to be populated all year round.
The village of Hikkim (14,435 feet) has the highest Post Office in the world (Pin Code 172114).
Finally, a visit to the beautiful Ki Gompa (aka Kee, Key), the largest monastery in Spiti, wraps up the day's ride.
Kaza- Chandratal Lake
Today's ride is special because you will ride over Kunzum La (15,050 feet), the highest point of the journey.
The pass offers magnificent views of the Chandra-Bhaga range of mountains.
Getting close to the destination, youwill ride on a dirt track to reach the Chandratal lake. Since vehicles are not allowed near the lake, you will have to hike for 20 minutes from the campsite to this pristine Himalayan lake.
Overnight stay in swiss tents at the campsite.
Chandratal Lake- Manali
It's the last day of the ride, but the initial section is quite rough and has many water crossings that will test your riding skills to the max.
After crossing Batal, behold the amazing sight of Bara-Sigri glacier, the second longest glacier in the Himalayas after Gangotri.
Once on the Manali-Leh Highway, you will have a comparatively smooth ride till Manali via the picturesque Rohtang pass (13,990 feet).
Depart Manali
Check out of your hotel by 12pm and depart Manali.
