Lohagad has witnessed numerous cultural shifts in the hands of various rulers and dynasties like Satavahanas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Yadavas, Bahamanis, Nizams, Mughals and the Marathas. In 1648 AD, this fort was captured by Shivaji Maharaj but later had to handover it to the Mughals in 1665 AD.
