About the Activity:

  • Explore the capital city of Tibet, Lhasa and some of picturesque locations like Jokhang temple, Bhakor street, Sera monastery, Potala palace, and the bustling Lhasa market.
  • Rejuvenate yourself with one of the holiest lakes in Tibetan plateau, the Yamdrok lake, also known as Heavenly Lake.
  • Dig into the ruins of ancient Guge kingdom and take a lot of memories on your way back to home. 
  • End your trip after getting dropped at the airport or the train station and depart for home.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Arrive in Lhasa.

    Arrive in Lhasa (3700m), where your local Tibetan guide and driver will bring you to hotel and rest at hotel for acclimatization.

    Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 2 -

    Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple in the morning and Bakhor Street after noon.

    In the morning, visit the huge and magnificent complex of ancient buildings, breathtaking Potala Palace, which is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, built in the 17th century by the fifth Dalai Lama

    Explore the Jokhang Temple, the most sacred monastery in Tibet, and the surrounding Barkhor bazaar, the bustling Lhasa market.

  • Day 3 -

    Visit Drepung Monastery in the morning and Sera Monastery in the afternoon.

    In the morning, explore the expansive Drepung Monastery which is the largest monastery in Tibet and the home monastery to all Dalai Lamas.

    Go to Sera Monastery to watch the special monks’ debate In the afternoon, the Monastery has a rich collection of cultural relics and a silk tangkha painting of Sakya Yeshe.

  • Day 4 -

    Lhasa-Gyangtse

    In the early morning, start your journey toward south west, and see the breathtaking holy Yamdrok lake with its turquoise color and snow capped Mt. Nyenchen Khangsar in the distance,

    At Gyantse, visit Palkhor Choede monastery which is a magnificent multi-door structure and also is the largest stupa in Tibet.

  • Day 5 -

    Gyantse-Shigatse

    Depart Gyantse for Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet

    In Shigatse, go to visit the expansive Tashilhunpo Monastery or hike the ancient pilgrim circuit along with hundreds of Tibetan worshippers.

  • Day 6 -

    Shigatse-Saga (450kms, around 7 hours)

    Depart Shigatse for Lhatse and visit the Lhatse Chode Monastery and explore the local Tibetan farming culture found in this small town

    On the way to Saga (4490 meters), go through the nomadic regions of western Tibet, and stop the car at the turquoise colored waters of Ngamring Lake.

  • Day 7 -

    Saga-Paryang-Lake Manasarovar (485 kms, around 8 hours)

    Go through vast expanses of grasslands that are home to yaks and sheep before arriving in Paryang (4590 meters).

    Arrive holy lake Manasarovar (4590 meters) which is one of the most famous and important pilgrimage destinations for Tibetans and Hindu’s from India and Nepal.

  • Day 8 -

    Lake Manasarovar-Darchen (35kms, 1hour)

    Head for Darchen which is the starting point of the trek around Mt. Kailash.

    From Darchen, take a short trek to Gyangdrak Monastery where you can have a great view of Mt. Kailash.

  • Day 9 -

    Darchen-Zanda (290kms, around 6 hours)

    Depart Darchen for the ancient Guge Kingdom.

    On your way to the ancient Guge Kingdom, see some small herding villages and enjoy the unique landscape of western Tibet.

  • Day 10 -

    Zanda and the Guge Kingdom (36kms, around 1 hour)

    Explore the ancient Kingdom of Guge, located at Tsaparang, which is nearly 1200 years old and is one of the wonders of western Tibet.

  • Day 11 -

    Zanda-Lake Manasarovar (320kms, around 7 hours)

    After a full day exploring of the ancient Guge Kingdom, you will start your trip of backing to Lhasa (or to the Nepal border).

  • Day 12 -

    Manasarovar-Saga (485 kms, around 8 hours)

    Depart Lake Manasarovar for Saga, much of the route will follow the banks of the Brahmaputra River while gazing out to sand dunes and snow covered peaks in the distance.

  • Day 13 -

    Saga-Shigatse 450 kms, around 7 hours (option of going to Nepal border)

    Continue your journey of going back to the holy city Lhasa.

    Stay overnight in Shigatse.

  • Day 14 -

    Shigatse-Lhasa (260kms, around 5 hours)

    Arrive back in in Lhasa at afternoon and there is enough time for you to explore to the fun streets of the Barkhor and Old Lhasa.

  • Day 15 -

    Send off from Lhasa to train or airport.

    On the final day, your driver and guide will send you to Lhasa train station or airport.

    End of tour.
